Good morning to all on this wet and miserable Saturday morning.
Between 9am and 9.30 my garden received 12 mm of rain in that half an hour. I dread to think what is happening on the mid north coast where it is supposed to be worse.
Made a quick dash to the shops just now while there was a pause in the rain - my grandkids go through milk like there is no tomorrow. - bought myself a pork pie
I hope your weekend is less wet than mine. On the bright side August is the last month of winter, spring beckons!
I’ve just finished my first coffee so I’m feeling awake enough to risk a post on the forum without the swan vestas under the eyelids
Off to Arundel for a trip out today. I’m just going to check The National Rail Journey Planner to see what the situation is with the trains… fingers crossed
Good morning everyone, August has started off unusually cool, only 19C at the moment, although temperatures will surely rise later. It’s been usually windy too.
I’ll be picking up my daughter from the station later this afternoon, she’ll be staying for two and a half weeks, this is the official holiday month over here. There will be thousands of travellers this weekend, coming home from up North. All the jobs and career opportunities are up there so many of our youngsters end up moving out.
I’ll be going to he supermarket soon to buy some fresh bread for when my daughter arrives, it’s one of the things she misses most, it’s something "they can’t make as well as we do’, her words.
Have a good trip Chilli, hoping yours and our train services are both running well today.
Fingers crossed for you @Bruce, hoping the rain ceases without causing further flooding!
Morning all. Really busy day today. Firstly it’s the 2nd of the month and that means going through my month’s expenses, pension and savings, just to make sure I’m not entirely broke and don’t have to start playing my guitar on street corners for a living. Secondly, Mrs G informs me all of a sudden she wants to go outlet shopping today. Thirdly I have a photo shoot later today and I’m going to be tight for time to fit everything in. Fourthly, assuming I’m not completely skint this month, it’s time to order my new lens which I’ve been thinking about for ages, especially when my old one let me down a few weeks ago on our cruise. Last but not least, my brain is not functional until I’ve had my morning coffee, which takes a priority.
Solicitor arrived and new Will now signed and witnessed. He was left with no doubt as to my opinion of the performance of his practice. He said he would pass on the feedback (yes I am sure he will!)
Two books delivered yesterday and a third is due to be delivered today – that should keep me going for a couple of weeks!
Dinner with neighbours last night was very enjoyable. They somehow remembered that yesterday would have been my husband’s birthday and gave me flowers at the end of the evening – really lovely people.
Something strange did happen – we had finished dinner and were enjoying a light hearted conversation when I noticed a man at the next table kept looking over at us. He finally came across and said he was sure we knew each other. He then listed all the clubs he belonged to and the places he had worked – none of which applied to me. He finally left still convinced that we knew each other!
Plans for today are housework (boring) and then finish my current book before making a start on one of the new ones!
My daughter in law got her 4*4 bogged for a moment I had to direct her to get it out, otherwise she would never have got to her footie match (The Raiders lost to St George 18-12)
