I am in Cowra, site of the Cowra breakout, waiting for the Caravan Park owner to open his office. it is after noon but this park has check in from 2pm onwards.
I don’t care but there is no consistency across parks. Motel and cabins check in is 2pm understandably because the rooms have to be cleaned etc but chink in for a van site? Most stipulate after 12. It is my fault.
The temptation is just to drive home, it is a 4 hour drive. but that makes a total of 7 hours driving in one day and while I have done that in my youth I don’t like to do that now.
Good morning - I was woken up during the night by the sound of heavy rainfall and never got back to sleep again. Ah well, there will be time to watch TV through my eyelids later.
A mini-tornado was reported to have happened not far from here yesterday. Trees uprooted and some roofs removed. We had heavy rain with a thunderstorm at that time but no wind with it. More heavy showers are in the forecast.
Time to take Mrs mart her usual cup of tea in bed. Family visiting later maybe. Have a good day.
Morning all – rain last night and again this morning – promise of some dry spells (I hope)
First many thanks to Surfermom for giving me an idea of why my post yesterday was “awaiting approval” for several hours until I changed one word! It is frustrating when one word, taken out of context, can cause a post to be stopped. I can understand how some words could be offensive but surely it could be left to members to report it and then the post could be deleted – just a thought.
Beast was indoors for most of yesterday because of the rain so, as expected, there was a gift waiting for me this morning – I just wish she would use her tray. While I was cleaning up she proceeded to throw up on the carpet by the open door!
Sister in law called in yesterday afternoon and we had a lovely catch up – I really am lucky with my in-laws. Told her about my problems with the GP and she recommended I move to the practice she uses. It is further away but she tells me she has no trouble getting appointments so I will be investigating that. She also gave me the number of a cleaner she has used in the past. I have to admit that I now need help with things like cleaning the shower and floors (oh the joys of getting older!)
My other neighbours dropped in to tell me they were going away today for 9 days – so I am on patrol duty keeping an eye on their house, perhaps I should start a house watching/pet care company!
As I haven’t been out of the house for 2 days (except to take care of the cat) my plan today is grocery shopping and, if the knee isn’t too bad and the rain holds off perhaps a short walk around the local park.
The cardigan I mentioned yesterday is still there – now soaked through following the heavy rain we had yesterday so I don’t think anyone will be coming back for it and it is safe to bin it!
Good Morning from Robert’s Residence…
A bit of rain during the night but nothing serious, by the time we perused the Isles of Tesco it was just a sort of misty drizzle and low cloud, but at a heady 15 degrees C I’ll take it.
It’s cleared up now so would have been a nice morning for a walk, but it’s a rest day today.
Off to the next village after brecky to pick up some clothes alterations Mrs Fox has had done, she’s also shortened a few pairs of shorts for me, a nice Polish or Ukrainian lady, I think… That Eastern European dialect sounds all the same to me. She probably thinks the same about us Yorkies…
I met her some time ago walking along the canal towpath and we used to pass the time of day, she once showed me her pictures of the Heron, a regular fishing visitor on the far bank…The heron that is, not her…
I know it’s a Flamingo, but there were no pictures of Herons in the emojis…
Anyway, it’ll be off to a garden centre at Cleethorpes for lunch, and then home in time for tea with Daughter and hubby, and granddaughter number two…
I was surprised to read about the storms that some folks are experiencing. There has been very little rain here even though Alexa forecast it. I was caught in a short, sharp shower on my way home from the farm shop yesterday morning, which had stopped by the time I reached home, and that is about it. It is sunny and quite warm this morning. The dog walk was short today because I am waiting for a parcel to arrive - before 8pm it says on the website. I left a note on the door whilst I was out requesting that they leave the parcel on the doorstep - then all the time I was walking I was thinking that leaving such a note tells everyone that the house is empty; my over-active imagination was working overtime as I walked imagining the house being broken into … anyway when I arrived home the parcel hadn’t arrived and the house was as I left it!
It’s cricket again today, another 50 over match against Australia - the second in a set of 4. Hopefully England batters won’t be so gung-ho today and will score more runs before they are out. We can’t allow the Aussies to beat us again! (Sorry @Bruce ).
Not much else planned for today except some weeding and tidying in the garden between watching the cricket.
Texts were pinging early this morning with friends and neighbors collaborating on battening down the hatches for hurricane that still hasn’t congealed. All eyes are on the strait between the Yucatan peninsula and Cuba, where something is expected to start forming on Sunday. After two major hurricanes in ten years, most plan early, so we can help those who might need additional hands to evacuate.
Look at this forecast of landfall tracks. Crazy, isn’t it! Every line is a projected path for landfall of anything from a wide are of rain to a Cat 3 (out of 5) hurricane.l. It has put the entire coast on alert. No wonder these charts have been affectionately dubbed “Spaghetti Models”!
@Sheila, you are welcome. I am glad your posting issue was an easy fix. Your SIL’s idea to consider another GP if you can’t see your own.
Enjoy your cricket match, @MargaretF. I hope you package makes it on time and in one piece!
I enjoy mentions that send us down the rabbit hole of history, @Bruce. I hope you enjoyed your adventure; travel to me is like surfing. In almost every case, the worst day is better than no day!
I am stalling with a cup of chai after a nice long run (searing by @OGF’s standards but refreshingly chilly). This is (American) football Saturday, but my game isn’t until tonight, so I’m off to pitch in. All I need is some of that curry that @Chilliboot and CJ are cooking up.
