Good Morning Saturday, 21st March 2026

Good morning everyone on this lovely Saturday.

For reasons best known only to itself the sun rose behind the only clouds in the sky.

Actually the clouds made a nice backdrop for my walk this morning.

When I returned home I watered my plants then rang a couple of my kids in their various parts of the country, one was just clearing up for the rain expected from Cyclone Narelle, the other was at a Canberra balloon festival or something like that.

Have no idea how I am going to spend the weekend but hope you enjoy yours.

Take care…

Good morning all…

A fine and sunny day down here in southern Hampshire. Just come back from my daily walk and to look at the devastation left by English Heritage having ripped up a load of trees along the waterway. I have to say, apart from a couple of ducks, the place is bereft of wildlife. The swans and geese have disappeared somewhere, no sign of any coots or anything. As I said before, the whole area did need some tidying and cleaning up a bit, and sometimes volunteers have cut down weeds, clear algae etc. But this was very much a sledgehammer approach and may have done a lot of damage to the local wildlife.

Apart from all that, first order of the day is a trip down to the recycling centre, as I managed to cut my lawn for the first time this year as it was starting to overgrow a bit. After that, coffee. After that, maybe some shopping. Wife had a letter from the doctor yesterday expressing concern about her elevated blood pressure and has to sit down three times a day and record it over a number of days - all of which cheered her up no end.

Anyway, have a great day all…

:coffee: :+1:

Morning all – a bit cloudy this morning but the sun is trying to break through, although much colder than yesterday

Today would have been our 56th anniversary – I lost him to cancer 15 years ago and still miss him every day

Moved some of the bricks yesterday hopefully enough – amongst the bricks was a small stone statue of a gorilla!!! So who moves out of a house and leaves a pile of bricks and a stone statue hidden away! I did ask the neighbour across the road if he knew anyone who wanted some bricks – unsurprisingly he said no but would keep it in mind!

Well, the beast gave me a fright yesterday. As it was such a lovely day I left her in the garden all day. Went back to let her in around 4.30 and she was nowhere to be found (she usually doesn’t leave the garden). I spent an hour calling her and searching any places she might be hiding with no luck. After an hour I went around asking other neighbours if they had seen her but they hadn’t. Returned to the house to find her loudly demanding her dinner totally unaware that I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown!! Neighbours are due back today so I can now relax until the next time!

Hope your wife’s blood pressure improves Graham

Take care – have a lovely day (and if anyone can come up with any ideas what I can do with all those bricks, please let me know)

Morning All…
A rest day today so no walk, but an early visit to Tesco for the weekend fresh stuff.
The fog was outrageous and visibility down to 100 yards, but it is forecast to be sunny by mid day. I just hope I can find my way to a garden centre for lunch.
Nice sunrise Bruce, sunrise here is around 6:00 am but that will all change next week when the clocks go forward.
The English Heritage want prosecuting for destroying the habitat of the local wildlife Graham.

I suspect the beast will have found a comfortable place to sleep now the weather is picking up Sheila. Rosie the cat spends most of her time outside these days, and if she’s asleep she just ignores our calls…Unless it’s for something to eat…

I’ve been spending time updating some electronics drawings onto the computer, it sometimes takes longer to do the drawing than make the project…So I’ve decided to draw them freehand into a book. They will be quicker to do and I can refer to them at a moments notice without having to start up the computer…There’s a lot to be said for pencil and paper…

Good afternoon all!

Glorious sunshine again! :sun_with_face:
I’m indoors attending to run of the mill domestic chores today.
Tomorrow of course is another day, we’ll pop into town for a while, no doubt in The Shades for a quick drink and a chat :sunglasses:

Chilli jnr is off college on Monday so we’re thinking of a jaunt to Arundel for the day! Very picturesque it is too!

Oh, last but not least, just popped over the road to the Indian grocery to pick up some more fresh chillies, Indian ginger and one or two other delectables :yum:

Have a good day people! :sunglasses::+1:

And it’s a gloriously sunny day here after torrential rain, flooding. This is the first time in many years we did not really have a winter. A few flurries…but nothing stayed except in the mountains…where it belongs.

Yes, you probably do but for me I have always used the electronics method for decades. Just different. Our draughtsman was good at that, if rather slow…

You can always use them to make a path or paved area, that’s what I used a pile for that I had left over

As you can see I have some more for another paved area but it needs digging out. (still waiting for the roundup to take effect)

Bricks are always handy things to have

Have you tried using Powerpoint? I haven’t done it for ages but I once made a library of electronic bits so it was just a matter of copy, paste and rotate, then join up with lines (which snapped into place).

In the end it was quicker and neater than drawing by hand. These are a bit old I haven’t done it for years and I fear I have deleted most of them.

Thanks Bruce… :+1:
I used to use a programme called ‘Deluxe Paint’ om old Amiga computer and I learned about making what they call ‘Brushes’ so you could recreate drawings easily and faster.
Since moving to Windows 98 - Vista - Win 7 - and now Windows 10, I have transferred my old Paint Shop Pro 5 to each of the previous microsoft computers, and I still use it today.
I made up a page of ‘Brushes’ of electronic components as you mentioned you use on ‘Powerpoint’

So I just copy and paste. Here is my drawing of a metal detector…

But sometimes I get carried away and do something a little bit special.
This is the mains wiring for the kitchen Induction Hob, the power to the garage and summer house, and power to the workshop…

I’m impressed, Mr Fox !!

That’s pretty good stuff, I would never have thought of using a paint program, I have always used Powerpoint as I said.

I don’t even have the catalogue of parts any more, unfortunately I seem to have deleted all my electronic drawings I could only find the one I put up because it was in a strange folder (probably a prototype).

As you can see from the only drawing I have left the Zener symbol was just a diode and I was using a speaker instead of a buzzer. It was a bit more sophisticated later but apparently all lost now.

I also use ‘Paint Shop Pro’ for…
Bungalow drawings and dimensions…

Pipe layout for the central heating…

And Ring main details…
