Good morning to all you happy forummers enjoying the shortest day or night of the year. I really hate waking up in the dark in winter, it doesn’t get light until nearly 7am.
Once again I am stuck at home because the front door locks are in bits as I paint that section of the door., hopefully this will be the last time for a very long while. Once this paint is dry and the locks are back in place I will just tape them up to paint the rest.
Another cold night followed by a glorious sunny day, not as cold as the previous night and warmer during the day. It is supposed to get up into the low 20s next week which will be nice perhaps some clouds are expected?
Not much else to report from my neck of the woods, except that I am out in the garden enjoying the sun’s warmth, sitting here reminds me I still have a visit to the dump to do (the old tailgate is still lying on the grass). Procrastination can only get you so far
Looks like being another sunny one today with the temperature hitting up to thirty degrees.
Once again largely a day for staying in although conditions are forecast to cool down tomorrow, could be just right for a day trip
I’ve been meaning to propagate the jade plants for ages, we have two more like this. Those lower lateral branches are starting to look seriously untidy!
I’ll just take cuttings and let them take root in jars of water. Need to get some compost during the week and pot on the parent plants.
Good morning!
I was up early, just before 6, and it’s already bright, sunny, and hot
Somehow, because I’ve been tired and also diverted by other things like visiting my daughter and starting a Men’s Shed, I’ve only done the minimum of cleaning & tidying, so today is the start of a Catch Up On Cleaning Session, but I’m going to pace myself
I live in a flat, and I’m going to do one room a day for the next few days - today it’s the bedroom
So that means change the sheets (well it is half way through the year!); move out assorted boxes & bags (I don’t have much storage space); dust & vacuum
Even at my speed that shouldn’t take all day, so I’ll probably just sit in the park for a while this afternoon
Cleaning and gardening day, Shiv and family arriving before lunch to do this.
It is already 26.5C, so hard work for them.
Kinga did the water changes yesterday, unfortunately the pump packed up during the process so she had to refill the tanks with 400 litres of water by hand.
The pump was bought in February, so much for an Amazon Choice recommendation.
This hot weather is very uncomfortable for me, I am on a strict 1.5 litre a day fluid limit.
One of the problems of severe heart failure.
I am really looking forward to the temperature drop tomorrow.
Another hot day in south Hampshire - can’t wait for the weather to break and cool down a bit.
Not sure what’s happening today, other than having lots of coffee. Some last minute shopping before our cruise later next week and waiting around for some online stuff to be delivered. May go for a good old-fashioned fry-up later, possibly wander off to feed the local swans and cygnets later. In amongst all that, my wonderful new install of Windows 11 on my PC is playing up, so I need to sort that out at some point.
We got a heavy shower here in our part of Surrey around 7.00 a.m. Now it’s sunny and going to get hot. I’ll be going to pick up our sons shortly, then a trip to B&Q to get a couple of things for number 1 son’s flat (a shower head holder I think). Then back to here. I’ll get them to help with getting unused items down from the loft for putting in the skip. Might as well make good use of it. There is room left now that all the groundwork has been done at the end of the garden.
Good Morning Everyone…
John the roofer turned up just after eight yesterday morning to continue work on the summer house. I had to locate the old holes in the soffits (after being covered with cladding, the soffits not me!) for the recessed lighting, my little fixture that I cobbled together on Thursday worked a treat.
So I managed to re-wire and install some new LED lighting before dinner.
It buggered me up for the rest of the day so I sat doing sudoku’s for the rest of the day as the temperature climbed to 33 degrees C in the shade…
It looks like being a carvery for lunch at a garden centre 40 miles away. It’s a nice drive and even better with the air con on…
Family are due for tea later, It’ll be different surrounds for them while they attend to their smartphones…
