Good Morning Saturday, 20th September 2025

Good morning to everybody enjoying the weekend. It is quite sunny here and temperatures are in the low 20s but the wind has picked up.

Last night I woke up about 3am very hot, the night time temperature never went below 15°, it is that awkward time of the year when one has to make the call to change from winter to summer doona. I have compromised and changed the feather doona for a wool one, I am not prepared to go full summer mode yet, early spring is too unpredictable.

Flew my drone a bit yesterday arvo. I have discovered one of the disadvantages of it being too clever. My old drone only had sensors facing downward for landing but this one as sensors in all directions to stop it hitting things. I wanted to look in my gutters, getting ready for the bush fire season, with the old drone it was possible to fly just a few inches above the gutter and track sideways along it.

This drone will not have a bar of it, it can see the slope of the roof in front of it so refuses to go any closer which is about 75 mm away from the guttering. It wasn’t the end of the world I just had to fly it a bit higher and use the zoom to see into the gutter. It just goes to show that being cleverer is not always better.

Have to go to the supermarket later for milk but the wind has made sitting in the garden too cool even with a cardigan on, I do have a job I want to get done, the massive flowers on the Agave in the front garden have finished so they need cutting down and while I am at it will remove the plant as well to let the baby ones grow and take over.

Enjoy your weekend

Take care…

Good morning - Grey skies at present and cool. A contrast to yesterday, which was sunny with temperatures into the mid-twenties. The days are very noticeably shorter now. Pretty much full dark at 8.00 p.m. All downhill until the shortest day.

It’s was a grandson’s birthday last Thursday. There will be homemade cakes and biscuits to celebrate it with us today.

I’ll probably carry on doing the last of the year tidy-ups in the garden before the weather cracks up, which will undoubtably happen soon.

Have a good day.

Morning all…

The saga continues with my Father in law’s health issues.

Today is the sixth day he’s been in hospital with fluid retention. Yesterday when we went to see him, we were told that on top of everything else, he has at least two internal bleeds and is receiving blood transfusions and anti-biotics to stem the bleed. This is a throw back from some time ago when he found there was blood when he went to the loo, but then refused to have an internal exam to find the cause. Now it seems to have come back.

Unfortunately if the bleeding cannot be stopped, there will be nothing that can be done for him. His case has been given to the Palliative Care team, in which case, its a matter of time. We will visit him later today, and there is a base chance he could yet still recover enough to be able to go home. However, in all probability, we were told we may get “the phone call” in the next few days, in which it will all come to an end.

All his family are on WhatsApp and everyone is up to date with his condition and Mrs G is on the phone almost constantly to see what’s happening. Everything is down to relying on hope, but realistically, its getting ready for the worst.

Thanks for the messages I’ve had and hope everyone is well…

Good morning from the cool, breezy, heaven of Florida! Ha, not really. The good morning part stands, but it’s cooker out there , so much so that I’ve decide to postpone my run to later in the day.

@Graham, I am truly sorry that your FIL’s condition is so concerning; I know this must be especially hard on your wife.

The other half of this operation is flying home tonight after a ten-day schedule, so I am off to the produce stand with plans for a late night dinner outdoors. Hopefully the moon will be gentler in the sky than the sun is right now.

Have a fine Saturday!
