Good morning to everyone at the beginning of yet another month, the year has flown past. Yesterday arvo there was a brief but spectacular thunder and lightening display, some of the thunderclaps shook the house, summer is just around the corner.
It is a bit overcast today but tomorrow is supposed to be sunny, warm (mid 20s) and dry so I will get all my washing done.
I might try to fit the plastic liner to the tailgate of my ute, you might remember I replaced it after denting the old one.
Sunny at the moment down here in southern Hampshire, heavy rain expected later.
We’re off out shopping later after coffee and something to eat. Not very exciting, but there are a few Christmas markets starting to appear around here and the wife wants to get around as many as she can, having had a bit of an emotional day yesterday in dealing with the internment of her Father ashes at a cemetery. At least it’s put an end to a very long series of events going back a while.
Morning all – sunny start to the day but rain forecast for later
Well, I am definitely losing it! Showed up at the hairdressers yesterday at 2.30 for my appointment, only to be told I should have been there at 12.30! Fortunately, one of the other stylists had a cancellation and was able to fit me in. Seems it is time to look at homes for the bewildered!
Had a phone call last night – the event we were all going to tonight has been cancelled!! Oh well, suppose I need to put away my ball gown and tiara
I woke up with a terrible pain in my back this morning – perhaps it is time to turn the mattress (always fun!!)
Only plans for today are a little grocery shopping and ironing
Good morning - Bright at the moment but I heard a lot of rain falling in the night. A friend is visiting this morning. Bringing some sort of pie that his wife has made for me.I think she was worried by my appearance when she drove me home from the hospital the other day. I’m shaved and groomed since then so hopefully not so scary.
…and talking of scary, something in the house fell and made a crashing sound in the middle of the night. I still haven’t discovered what it was but maybe a bag falling down in Mrs m’s craft room. Ether that or there’s someting in this Halloween business afterall.
Good afternoon everyone. It’s the 1st November, National Holiday here, but it seems almost like our August national holiday, it’s 29C out there!
We’re wearing jumpers indoors, but at the moment you can stay outdoors in shortsleeves!
My daughter’s delighted, she’s come home for a week and thrilled to find a second Summer, a big difference to where she lives, up North.
Lovely bright blue sky, and with all this sunshine and warm weather we’ve been having, my lemons are finally ripening, yipeee!
I’ve already used a couple for baking and cooking, very aromatic.
I’ll post a couple of pics in the photo thread later.
In the meantime, hope you all have a great Sunday.
We had a wildly unseasonal cold front blow through a few days ago that plummeted the temperatures and brought fierce winds for two days. It also brought forth the Festival of Sweaters, that once-a-year event in which Floridians (an odd species that absurdly has little fur or feathers) can be seen throughout the state bent over cardboard boxes and frantically hauling down bins from attics in search of artificial insulation that they usually avoid known as “clothing” and “closed-toe shoes.” It causes great confusion as no one can recognize anyone without their familiarly-patterned swimwear.
In anticipation of the horrible hurricane that hit Jamaica last week, a pilot friend of ours was working with an attorney who offered his firm’s fleet of plane to fill with supplies to send down there in the aftermath. A few of us were recruited with the logistics of amassing water, diapers, batteries, insect spray and the like to fill the planes, while they worked out the logistics of getting the permission to get landing clearance. It was a bit chaotic, but they were able to get two large planes yesterday, with another (I believe going in today). It’s a rough go for the Jamaicans and they are going to need a lot of help for a couple of years to get back on their feet.
Mine is a very small neighborhood, so sadly we had just a few kids show for Halloween trick-or-treating last night, but the ones who showed up were adorable! We, of course, wanted to chat, they, of course, wanted to get their candy bars and move on to their treasure hunting as soon as possible. I sure miss the days when my two were little
This is recovery day in body and house. I’m skipping the run and putting this house back together after three days of neglect. I just have to find a good playlist to keep me moving, when what I really want is a nap! American college football, a pizza, a salad are on the menu for tonight, so I plan to be feet up. Fall has fallen, might as well make the best of it!
Bingo.
