Good Morning Saturday 14th September 2024

Good morning to you all on this lovely weekend. To be honest it is 3pm here but I drove up from Wollongong to Gulgong, the town that used to be on the $10 note. It is a lovely town but stuck in a bit of a time warp.

It has an Opera House

A bank that looks like something out of a western.

An naturally a free call box

Anyway that is my day so far, it was hell driving through the Blue Mountains as usual (it’s Saturday) but once past Lithgow it was fine.

Enjoy your weekend, take care.

Stuck in a bit of a time warp.
Sounds my kind of place. :grinning:

Yup, I could live there :slightly_smiling_face:

I see the buildings have very large Notice boards with who they are. So it is not only the kangaroos that are short sighted.

Morning all – another bright sunny start to the day

Lovely photos Bruce - if it wasn’t for the cars it would look like you have travelled back in time!

Beastie has reverted to type! She left a little gift on the floor to be cleaned up this morning. She again demanded cuddles and refused to leave the house. I will have to nip in later to see if she is prepared to carry out her garden patrol

Had a lovely surprise yesterday, when my gardener arrived he had his wife with him (she is a friend of mine). While he worked hard in the garden we sat and had a lovely long chat. He later said he was jealous as he could hear us laughing and giggling all the time (he also said perhaps he should charge me less for having to put up with her!) Garden is now looking much tidier.

Later had a text from a lady I had met at the “exercise” class suggesting we meet up for coffee sometime. I did have a long chat with her at my friend’s birthday party which I enjoyed so was happy to agree to that.

Housework today also shopping for fresh fruit and veggies

Take care – have a wonderful day

Morning Everyone… :039:
Rest day today, apart from the early visit to Tesco for the weekend supplies. A hoard of family are descending on us tonight for tea…Well four seems like a hoard when nobody ever comes through the week, except when their electrics need sorting… :slightly_smiling_face:
Another Saturday and another garden centre for lunch, I’m feeling like having the steak pie today…
:cut_of_meat:
The meat is locally sourced at this garden centre, you can always tell because there’s a cow in the field behind with only three legs…
Its about 30 miles away, so it’s a nice drive.
It’ll be back on jigsaw duty when we return, doing jigsaws is quite addictive isn’t it, just walking past and I have to have a quick fumble through the pieces…

And it must be catching, Mrs Fox came home with a jigsaw from the charity shop that she fancies doing…Well if it stops her disturbing me with her obsessive dusting and hoovering what’s not to like…
Regards and cuddles to Millie Sheila… :hugs:

What a coincidence @OldGreyFox, my son came home with a jigsaw puzzle the other day, we’ve started it, he’s much better than me :grinning:.
Haven’t done one for years. At least it’s something entertaining to do and will cheer us up, now that Autumn has arrived prematurely this year.

Ours is 500 pieces - Venice by night-.

@Bruce, that was a well-chosen first stop; aside from a few subtle differences, Gulgong looks like it was plucked out of the American west. In a world of strip malls and steel construction, we all crave nostalgic, charming places like this. Nifty!

How nice that @Sheila and @OGF are entertaining so casually! Those short-notice visits are my very favorite sort of company, I have surfer friends who get so many visitors during the day that they disabled the locks so people could more easily come and go. I love places where people are so relaxed and good conversation becomes the heartbeat of activity.

After almost two weeks of rain, hurricanes, and floods, the sun is gorgeously out, so my daughter and I are off to chase surf a couple of hours down the coast. The boards are in the back, the cooler is filled, the beach bags are stuffed with sunscreen, and her bespoke Tropical Afternoon playlist is ready to go.

Have a lovely day!

I started doing jigsaws and quite enjoyed it until I got one of Uluru. Completed the rock and the foreground but the sky was completely one shade of blue, no clouds, you would have had to look for the connecting pieces to complete it, I didn’t bother, never done one since  Decided I’d rather read a book.

Oh I definitely will @LookingForward.

Jigsaws were a top pastime for my sister and me in our childhood. Now I prefer to do them digitally in the program mentioned on Thursday. Just half an hour at a time. Having said that, Mrs Mart was presented with a 1000 piece one for her birthday and we’ll be do that together. She has ordered something to do it on that keeps all the pieces in place when it is stored upright.

That looks a hard one Rose… :open_mouth:
Lots of the same colour to sort out.
Mine was 500 pieces also and half way through I realised that I should have had a place to lay out all of the unused pieces. I just tried to use the one board and it becomes so congested… :009:
It’s still a ‘Work in progress’…

Ha Ha, yes Bruce, those large areas of one colour are so time consuming, you lose the will to live. I’m hoping that by completing all the easy recognisable bits, there won’t be many pieces left to sort through…

I think ‘patience’ is the required skill to do a large piece jigsaw Mart, and that 1000 piece one is going to need quite a lot, good luck with it, and It would be nice to see a picture of it when it’s completed.
You know what Mrs Fox always says…

Patience is a virtue, find it where you can…
Often in a woman,
And seldom in a man…
