Good Morning Saturday, 13th December 2025

Good morning everybody or in my case “where the hell has the day gone?”

It was a lovely sunny morning, Grandson, dog and I went for our walk early and worked up a good sweat on a warm morning.

My son, wife and other grandson arrived from Sydney a day early to return to Canberra early just as the weather started to cloud over. He is on leave until after Boxing Day so he had all his musical stuff in the back of the ute. Fortunately for him I had a spare tarp so we wrapped all the stuff up against the rain.

He rang me later telling me that they had torrential rain which reduced visibility and they had to slow. When I looked on BOMs radar I could see bright red patterns but as soon as it got to the escarpment it just petered out to nothing!

In the meantime I had been shopping because of the forecast of thunderstorms and downpours which so far have not happened. It is amazing how the weather can changed over 30 kms.

That’s Saturday so far, have a good one.

Take care…

Morning all…

A fresh and frosty morning here in southern Hampshire.

Just come back from my daily walk and feed the lonely swan on my travels. Today we’re still getting ready for our trip to New York next week, as there won’t be much time to organise Christmas after we come back, so we need to be a bit more organised than usual. I need to sort out a few tickets for some of the attractions and places we want to visit and print off some stuff all ready.

The wife managed to get her car sorted out yesterday, having had a new battery fitted with scrambled the car’s computer so her dashboard looks like a Christmas tree. Arranged to bring it in at the agreed time of 10:00, dealer didn’t get round to looking at until six hours later (!), which was itself a literally a two minute fix. So we spent the entire day sat in coffee shops, bored to pieces. But we did manage to get to the big Christmas market afterwards and come away with yet more Christmas decorations.

Have a great day all…

Good morning -A dry and fairly sunny day is forecast. I’m not feeling bad today and so I decided it really was time to change the bedding. Putting on the duvet cover is always a fight for me but still, it is all done. The changed sheets have been put through the washing machine and are hanging out on the washing line. They likely won’t dry completely at this time of year but enough for just half an hour in the tumble-dryer maybe. Worth a try.

I might even face putting up a few Christmas decorations later but for now, it will be a sit down for a while.

Have the best possible day.

Good morning!
Mixture of cloud & blue sky, dry & mild

Not feeling too lively today, which is a shame as a short walk would be nice; might manage something in the local park later

So, not a lot planned for today, or what’s left of it
I have already received several Christmas cards and some of them included latest news & general chat so I might make a start on replying, either by email or a proper letter

I’m thinking of buying a jeweller’s saw for cutting small pieces of metal and hardwood - does anyone know anything about them please?
I’ve watched YouTube Videos but it would be good to have other opinions … Thanks

Oh, some good news
I have an occupational pension and had a letter from them informing me that after a review they find that they have been underpaying me for several years - not a lot but it has built up to several hundred pounds, and they will refund the difference by the end of 2025
So I’ll probably treat myself to something … like a new jeweller’s saw!

Good morning from the placid waters of Florida!

It sounds like all is well in forum land. @Bruce, I’m sure it was a treat to have your grandson to yourself for a couple of days, and that you were able to get him and the dog out and about. So much better than looking at screens!

@Graham, I’m so pleased to read that you’ve seen and fed your widowed swan. I’ve seen geese mourn the loss of a mate, so I am sure she has too. That’s so good of you to fill in the gaps of her feeding while she tries to hang on to her territory. I am likewise excited for your adventure to NYC and that the weather will not be bitterly cold or blizzarding.

It’s so good to be home and getting by, isn’t it @mart. I hope every day finds you a little better.

@zuludog, I don’t have a neuron of information about jeweler’s saws other than the time my teen brother was using my dad’s for some unrelated repair and snapped the blade, sending my dad into orbit. I remember slinking around to avoid him the rest of the day, so I know they are expensive :grimacing:. Great news on your pension surprise!

It’s a little dreary here this morning, and the gulf water temperatures are dropping, evidenced by pods of dolphins that are coming up river for the first time this season. These two were working together to trap mullet along the shoreline for breakfast. Seeing them is a treat I never tired of. I somehow doubt they feel the same .

I’m off to prepare for a house full of guests later in the day, so I’d better get on with it.

I hope this December day is a pleasant one!
