Good Morning Saturday 10th August 2024

Another warm(ish) winters day but with definite signs that spring is not far away. It has just crept up to 21° .

When I was waiting at the Wollongong station to come home yesterday arvo I filmed a train coming through pulled by four locos, if you like train porn - this is for you.

This morning I did all my washing including my bedsheets, hopefully it will be dry soon.

I do quite like my new(ish) washing machine, it handles a much bigger load easily because it doesn’t have that paddle thing in the middle (plus it is 7.5kg compared to the old one’s 6kg - seems to be the smallest one available these days)

It’s the weekend! Hooray! What have you got planned for today?

Good morning! It sounds like you’ve had a productive start to your weekend. A train with four locos must have been quite a sight! Your new washing machine looks great, and it’s always nice to have more capacity. As for plans for today, I’m here to help if you need anything or just want to chat! What do you have in mind for your Saturday?

Morning all – overcast again this morning although we are told we should get some sunshine later

Bearing in mind all the false information being posted on the internet, I have to correct something I posted a week or so ago – I said it was the Balloon Fiesta that weekend, my mistake, there was a mass lift off of balloons that weekend but the actual Fiesta is this weekend (I grovel in mortification!). :bowing_man: This morning there was a mass lift off of 50 balloons apparently – no I didn’t see them as it was a 6.00 am and I was in bed :bed:

For some reason I spent most of yesterday thinking it was Saturday – had to keep telling myself it was only Friday. Hmm if this continues my sister in law may have to start looking at finding a place in a home for the bewildered for me! :icon_confused:

Another parcel is due to be delivered today, only other plans are to catch up on housework and some laundry, wish we had some of that sunshine Bruce so I could dry it! Finished my book yesterday so will start the next one this afternoon.

Take care – hope everyone has a lovely day

Good Morning Everyone…
Rest day today, except for and early visit to Tesco, I was accompanied by Mrs Fox so she could keep tabs on me… :astonished:…I told her that Holly Willoughby doesn’t shop at our Tesco… :009:
Trying out a new luncheon venue today, it’s called ‘The Old Tile Works’ or something like that. It’s where they used to make roof tiles and it’s close to the Humber Bridge at Barton-upon-Humber.
Nice washing machine Bruce, a very respected mechanical engineer once told me that top loading machines were far more efficient than front loading machines.
Love the shots of the loco’s… :astonished: I used to be a train spotter when the steam engines were thundering through the village where I lived, with so many coal wagons they would stretch to the next village, with occasional visits to Doncaster station where I logged all the streaks including Mallard…Streaks was short for ‘streamlined’
I still get weak at the knee when I hear the sound of ‘Seltzer Brush’…(it’s a big diesel not a remedy for hangovers for those who don’t do trains)

I don’t know about their efficiency but I would always get a top loader, no bending down, no leaky doors and they spin clothes dryer. I really can’t see the advantage of a front loader, I just take the dirty clothes basket from the bathroom to the laundry and tip it in.

I know you can still get them, I used to like my twin tub but they are too much work these days and probably too small

I was a train spotter too until I discovered girls, and I spent the nearly thirty years working with steam engines of various types

Good morning from the land of peace and quiet and a giant hole.

It looks like a relaxing Saturday out there, as it should be. Congratulations on your viewers, @realspeed!

Yesterday was a a difficult one as a dear friend, my local veterinarian for 40 years, passed away from pancreatic cancer. He was diagnosed in February and chose not to pursue treatment. His was one of those lives well-lived; he had a lovely wife, three grown daughters, and ran a quiet no frills clinic (as a chemistry major, he made his own very inexpensive heartworm medication), where among his kindnesses, he treated thousands of strays gratis, never charged for euthanasia (thought is was a conflict of interest), and took every Thursday off to fish or otherwise wander off on his own to spend a day. He only closed his practice last Tuesday and night before last, his organs shut down, hospice was called, and when the sun rose, he gently slipped away. The planet just lost a very fine human.

I guess I am a little introspective this morning; the local kids are back in school, my two are off on adventures, and the tile crew has left for the weekend. I can put the furnishings back in place but hardly know what to do with myself. I think I’ll load the dogs into the minivan and wander down the coast.

I noticed that the man who invented throat lozenges died recently. At his funeral there was no coffin

Sorry to hear about your vet Surfer, it sounds like the world has lost a very nice gentleman…
:hugs:

I don’t think there are any advantages Bruce, just the fact that women like a lot of worktops.
:009: Have women ever been practical?
