Good Morning Monday, 5th January 2026

Good morning all on this sunny warm Monday. I didn’t go for a walk this morning though I might go late in the arvo however another brief storm is expected later. At the moment it is just warm and sunny.

Might have another go at getting my drone up later to fly my preprogrammed route and see how it goes. it is a question of waiting for the sun to get round enough. Strictly speaking what I am doing is against the rule about flying over people.

I did get out after 9am to visit Big W to see if they stocked a book I wanted (they did) but there are so few specialist book stores these days it is a bit sad.

Not sure what I will do this arvo, the mall is full of kids on school holidays for another month but the Christmas/New Year double demerit blitz finished last night. However 2025 was a horror year on NSW roads and this year is one for drownings, five deaths already this year on unpatrolled beaches.

Enjoy the warmth or the cold whichever you prefer. Do you have any exciting plans for this year?

Take care…

Hello @Bruce and everyone following this forum,

After returning from my trip out of town, I’ve been feeling extremely exhausted, I ended up sleeping during the day for two days in a row. My son has also been unwell, probably due to the changing weather and the long journey.

I hope everyone is doing well and taking good care of yourselves.
Another year older already, but I truly believe our hearts don’t age along with the numbers.

Wishing everyone happiness every single day.

Good morning!
Very cold, clear blue sky, no wind

It’s been very cold, probably 0 C or lower for a few days, and we had snow last night
So there’s a layer of snow and it’s still very cold so it doesn’t look like it will thaw soon

This isn’t a problem as I’m retired and have lots of food in stock and hobbies to do and books to read so I could stay in for days if I want to

The only problem is that I haven’t driven my car since the 27th December and the battery will be gradually draining

I have a NOCO OB40 battery booster but I’d rather not have to fiddle about if I can avoid it
Although there’s snow on the roads it usually warms up slightly in the afternoon so I’ll try to go for a careful drive to keep things ticking over
Perhaps to Sainsbury; the route will be well used by then, and although I have dried & UHT milk, I could buy fresh and a few other odds & ends as well

Hi

Another stay in day, very boring.

It is below freezing and the snow is still on the ground.

If I can manage it some light dusting is in order, it will be good to have some time off the bed.

I doubt the black bin will be collected today.

Have a great day all.

Good morning - A slight dusting of snow this morning and due to stay cold all day. One of our friends is coming here for a cup of tea soon. No bad thing. At least it makes me get fit to be seen.

Have the best possible day

Good morning all!

A bit nippy here, pavements are a bit dodgy but nothing too intimidating.
I’ve been getting piccies from a good friend up in North Wales…

Think I’d prefer Wales!

Have a good day people :+1:

Good morning all. Another 10cms of snow overnight and still coming down. Supplies are getting low so I will have to try to get to the shops.

Good morning from a white and snowy coast.

A thin white coating of snow covered everything as I went for my daily walk, although the warm sun is starting to thaw it out and it won’t last long, but it did look quite scenic.

Meanwhile, it’s start of a new week. Our decorations are still up and although we’ll switch everything off either tonight or tomorrow, probably won’t get put away until the weekend. Meanwhile, Mrs G is off back to the gym, having giving it a miss for over a month and still with the dregs of flu she’s not quite over.

Have a great day all…

Good morning forum folk… :041:
From Suburbia to Siberia in just 24 hours.
A light dusting of snow last night and Rosie the cat dashed from the cat flap in the garage door and into the warmth of the house before I went to bed, she wasn’t impressed… :009:
I always sleep better knowing that she is safe.
It was her first snow, but she was out early to patrol her patch and didn’t seem to mind the cold.
She’s fast asleep now in her basket, where she will stay until nightfall…
Unfortunately for me I’ve got to drive the ten miles or so to the other side of town to sort out the problem with my daughters car. We think it’s the clutch…
:pound: :pound: :pound: :pound:

Had to wear bottoms on my walk/jog first thing, at minus 2 degrees C I daren’t risk damaging these old bones…
It’s quite invigorating and a good start to the day though, and I treat it as more…Medicinal than pleasure.
The canal was well frozen over and the towpath was slippy, so I jogged most of it…I found that running on ice is actually safer than walking on it…

I took the same photo as yesterday but with my Samsung phone with it’s better camera. Same time and same place…
