Good Morning Monday, 3rd March 2025

Good morning on this cooler Monday when it will hopefully rain soon. We are starting to get the very edge of the weather system created by Cyclone Alfred so the surfers are waxing up their boards while the rest of us hope for rain. It is supposed to make landfall some time this week but the models are unclear as to where on the Queensland coast.

Same old, same old for me this Monday, coffee and cake morning with friends, though one was attending his sons wedding of the year in Tassie so was absent.

My new smart TV for the camper has arrived so the old one is out but it will take me a few days to get this one fitted. I made a quick trip to Bunnings this morning for a new mount for this TV as the old one would not fit. I bought a new HDMI cord while I was there because they had some on clearance special. (this TV will need an extra one - the whole point of buying it).

Bought a metre length of 50 by 50 by 4mm galvanised angle iron for another job while I was there.

Apart from that not much else planned today. Knowing me I will be making lots of little trips to the camper doing little jobs toward fitting the TV. measuring, marking, unscrewing etc. I find it hard just to sit down!

BTW arriving with the TV were a couple of new leaf strainers for my water tanks the old ones were cracking and disintegrating after 20 years in the sun. Another leisurely job for sometime this week - no rush.

Have an enjoyable Monday, any plans?

Take careā€¦

Thatā€™s a bit sad, doesnā€™t Plan A ever work out for you? What was it by the way?

Have a good day

Good morning @Bruce and everyone. We have another sunny day here too @Eliza. It was pleasant walking across the fields with my dog - if not a little bit muddy too! There were quite a few dog walkers around today I think the sunshine must tempt them out. I saw a lady walking on her own without a dog and wondered whether I would ever do that - having a dog forces me to go for walks whether I want to or not!

As I write this I have a vase of daffodils in front of me - a sure sign that Spring is on the way. I think daffodils are my favourite flowers for that very reason. I noticed on my walk that there are many daffodils appearing in peopleā€™s gardens, as well as in mine, too. The snowdrops and crocuses have centre stage at the moment but the daffodils will soon take over Iā€™m sure.

Anyway, Iā€™m rambling - have a good day everyone!

Good Morning from Foxyā€™s dormant Worldā€¦ :sleeping_bed:
Another day of inactivity but I am feeling better and dying to lace up my walking shoes and take advantage of the sunny weather.
I keep going over the days leading up to my recent gout attack to try and discover what was the cause, and avoid making the same mistake again.
@Surfermom Iā€™m enjoying reading about your running exploits, takes me backā€¦ But not so much about your hectic workload :009: it makes me very tired just reading about your daily activities, and when I look around at the jobs piling up here that need attention, very guiltyā€¦ :flushed:
Apart from that, Iā€™m spending a lot of time looking out of the window and making plans for an active summer and watching re-runs of ā€˜A place in the sunā€™ on the telly. Sleeping also plays a big part of my down time, and the strange thing is, that I still sleep well at night when I go to bedā€¦
@Bruce we bought a smart telly last year when the old one expired (those CRT tubes are very heavy and hard to dispose of ) But Iā€™m not warming to it at all. We donā€™t use it as a smart telly and itā€™s not connected to the internet, it was all we could get these days, we just have terrestrial stations on freeview and it provides us with all the telly viewing we need (150 odd stations and 30 or so radio stations) the problem is that the computer side of the telly keeps interfering with using the damn thing and it confuses Mrs Fox when a cursor suddenly appears on the screen (most distracting) or asking us to update the gubinsā€¦
Nice to see @Daffy posting on the good morning thread, and a very warm welcome from me Daffy and a great postā€¦No such thing as rambling on here so keep up the good workā€¦

Good fine morning from Florida!

Itā€™s still as can be so a perfect day to start painting. I spent a good portion of yesterday getting the painting booth ready and test driving the priming. Half of the garage has been sacrificed for this activity and itā€™s a challenge to keep the plastic in place because the sides of the garage are constructed with giant tear-away louvered panels (on the right) designed to do what they say in a major hurricane so the house doesnā€™t buckle. The ventilation that comes with them made it hard to keep the plastic from blowing around, so I found by putting a few cuts here and there - like pricking a pie crust with a fork - the panels behave. The downside or upside is that one small project now has me painting everything - coffee table, bar stools, dressers, a headboard, and the little decorative penguin in the picture. Be glad you arenā€™t here, or Iā€™d probably be sanding and covering all of you with a fresh coat too .

@OGF, this fitness and activity is all about adapting and enjoying whatever it is that keeps us moving, outdoors when we can, and just generally enjoying life. There are so many simple pleasuresā€¦and yes, thank heavens summer is on its way!

@Bruce, that wall mount looks much more streamlined than the ones that were sold just a few years ago. Can you manage lifting that TV yourself? I have a story about trying to mount a TV on the wall a few years ago, and it didnā€™t go well :woman_facepalming:. I will save my pride and spare you the details . Every now in then a simple invention makes life an absolute joy. Such was the case when paintersā€™ tape replaced masking tape some years ago. I just love the stuff.

@Eliza, I hope you enjoy your walk and day. Hallelujah; spring is almost here!

@macywack, I am with Bruce. Itā€™s high time we shake you up to get Plan A back on track. Iā€™ll send the tools to get it fixed, just let me know!

@Daffy, how nice to see you on this thread! How nice that you were out for a long dog walk. What kind of dog do you have? Lucky you to have daffodils in your house and bulb flowers showing their heads in your neighborhood. I live in Florida, but itā€™s been a very slow spring with freezing temperatures here just last week.

Itā€™s a big Monday or projects, so off I go.

Have a very lovely start to your day!

I do like smart TVs but I wonā€™t be using any of its smartness, I bought it purely because it has an ARC HDMI socket so the quality sound can be outputted to my soundbar. The old TV didnā€™t have that facility.

The soundbar has a bluetooth input too so I can listen to music from Spotify from my phone.

I might load a solitaire program on to it before it is mounted into the camper and I will make use of its ability to tune to free to air channels automatically. I doubt I will be watching any streaming services or even much free to air on it, I mostly watch stuff I have downloaded from the internet.

We have nowhere near that number of channels maybe 30 or 40 plus radio (I only ever watch one channel anyway.)

You are such a busy bee! @Surfermom See - I typed supermum and wondered where your name was! Brain like a sieve.

That mount is a fixed mount holding the TV parallel to the wall which is perfect for a TV being bounced over dirt roads and paddocks. The TV is only 24inch and as light as a feather, the hardest part will be ensuring there is enough room between the mount and the camper roof to allow the TV to drop onto the V shaped mount.

The old TVā€™s mount was a moveable one I bought in an OP shop which alllowed the TV to be moved to the different angles. For a while it was a damn nuisance, it moved every where while travelling and I had to modify it with some very large bolts to fix it in place. It doesnā€™t fit this TV so it is heading for the bin.

I did mount a 40" TV by myself in my bedroom not so long ago, it was touch and go for a few moments until I got it hooked on but this TV is quite a different proposition I can hold it with one hand.

Am doing a tiny bit of sanding and varnishing myself today where I filled the holes from the old mount. It looks like I will be able to use the old wood but only just (and perhaps slightly off centre)

Welcome to the ā€œGood Morningā€ thread @Daffy . It is the perfect place to ramble on about your day.

You are absolutely right daffodils are lovely.
