Good Morning Monday, 29th September 2025

Am home early from my coffee and cake morning, had 9mm of rain overnight which was needed but it deterred some of our number from appearing. As we are all about 80 years old I suppose this is inevitable as time moves on.

The one thing I hate about aging is not the process itself (though I can understand why people do) but that one’s friends and acquaintances slowly disappear as they become less mobile or even die off.

Took my car pump with me and called into the seniors’ office to pump up the tyres on the wheel chair on the way.

Have no idea what I am going to do for the rest of the day. I was thinking of going to the $2 shop to buy a clear plastic container to make a new photo light box out of. I need a shorter one. My old one is a bit tall and trying to prop things nearer the lens is not always convenient. Anyway it keeps me off the street :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Enjoy the first day of the week. Here it is also the first weekday of the school holidays so there are kids on scooters hurtling about everywhere. They, at least, are having fun.

Take care…

Good morning - Bright and sunny but a few puddles shows we had rain in the night. Supermarket shopping this morning. Nothing else going on as far as I know.

Have the best possible day.

Things are settling down after my father in law passed away on Friday. Yesterday was the big family get together to decide the next steps and who is going to do what, which all went amicably despite some past politics and friction, all of which is now irrelevant and in the past, which I take as a good thing.

Today, we are taking a day out of all this and try to resume normal life. Other members of the family are doing all the contacting and arranging, whilst we will have a bit of a day out and do a bit of Christmas shopping. Mrs G is taking solace from the fact that her father’s passing was one of ‘happy release’ and no longer suffering his multiple health problems which he had for years…to be honest, it’s a view everyone is taking and yesterday we talked over the good times and laughs we had. The next big thing will be the funeral which has yet to be arranged and I’ve been given the role of producing the Order of Service, along with all the photos and artwork.

Such is the way of the world that life moves on, regardless what happens. :102:

Hope everyone has a great day.

My laptop is playing up so not been posting for a while - I have to find time to drive to a nearby town to visit the friendly tech nerd who I trust not to rip me off!

Sorry to hear about your father-in-law Graham - even when expected it is always difficult to lose someone.

Everything seems to be going wrong, apart from the laptop, my electric toothbrush has died, a toilet wouldn’t stop flushing so had an emergency visit from a plumber to rectify, one of my planters has developed a “lean” and gardener has said he will fix it once the flowers have died off, received a bill from the gas engineer who came to look at the boiler several weeks ago - he was here 5 minutes and said he would not send a bill, when a bill arrived it worked out at £11 per minute plus tax! After complaining they knocked £20 off! BT are changing me to Digital Voice today so am keeping my fingers crossed nothing goes wrong with that!

Neighbours returned from their month long holiday on Friday. The beast had to be out of the cattery on Wednesday so they got a relative to pick her up and I looked after her until they got home Friday - I’m surprised at how much I missed her (even if she does treat me with contempt!)

Take care - hope everyone has a lovely day

yet another trip to the dump with more acorns. I did a garden clearing of them again this morning as the grass was covered again with them.

Trying to decide if I should get a 25mm f1.4 lens for the camera. It is a question of do I want it or do I need it? would be better for low light situation. 25mm in full frame terms is 50mm, this is close to what the human eye sees.

This speaks so well of your wife and FIL’s relationship that she is finding peace in his passing. A normal day sounds good for all.

It’s not easy, Bruce. I commiserate with you on this.

It’s sunny here too and Monday has me a list that’s as long as my arm. I have a tv to purchase, as my attempt to replace the speakers was a no-go when I discovered that the replacement speakers are not identical. The local junior high school (student ages around 12-14), have said they want it for their shop class, so I’ll be dropping that off with some pumpkin cookies for the staff later this afternoon. I couldn’t sleep last night, so stayed up late baking and watching Key Largo. Such a good Bogart movie.

Wishing you well with the shopping, repairs, and generally enjoying a nice fall day!

Sad Day 2 Day. The Crab-apples have been neglected this year.
The 2 ladies who normally collect to make Jelly Jam. Have left it 2 late. Over ripe and fallen now.
Upside.
Cyril the Squirrel, his misses Myrl, Butterflies :butterfly: and Field mice.
Are Sloshed. And having a Banyan..

I’m here! :041: Did yer miss me?
A strange day today, I like to do all my athletic pursuits early, but after last weeks bike ride with the sun in my face and the risk of hypothermia I decided to leave it a bit later. It’s screwed up my day good and proper I can tell you…
Anyway, I pedalled my way around a decent 16 miles of deserted country roads, the sun was high’ish in the sky and it felt warm in the 16 degrees C…It’s been a while since I rode 16 miles and was beginning to regret it after twelve miles, but with very little wind to battle against, it had a happy ending…Although buggered me up for the rest of the day…
Chips, beans and fish fingers for dinner, so I better get started before Mrs Fox gets nasty…
