Good morning everybody, back to my usual routine on a Monday of coffee and cake morning.
Called into the supermarket on the way home for a few odds and ends.
Was up early setting the washing machine going with my accumulated dirty laundry, The weather was lovely at 6am and the sun was shining, Things have gone downhill since then with clouds rolling in and a few spots of rain. Not much rain just enough to be a nuisance.
Still have some little jobs left over from my trip plus some minor house repairs left over from before my trip so I should be able to keep busy.
It’s a sunny day here, but damp having rained during the night.
Just come back from my walk and fed the lonely swan who I’ve not seen for a few days. Have to make a start on the Christmas shopping today, so I need some excuse to slip away from the wife for an hour or two. May grab a coffee on the way.
Extremely cold this morning 3 degrees C and light rain although the sun could still be seen climbing up from the horizon. The result was a massive rainbow forming over the site of the old power station, it got brighter and more defined as I left the canal towpath back in the village. Still in my shorts despite the cold and only passed a few regular dog walkers…I know what they were thinking… but my legs never actually feel the cold as long as the rest of me is warm.
Some quite heavy rain after I got back, so it’s scuppered any plans of putting up the Christmas lights or doing any cleaning up in the garden…it’s our last green bin day on Thursday until next year.
Perhaps I’ll cut the six Sudoku puzzles out of the paper and work on them while I have my lunch…Soup of the day is Heinz Vegetable with a slice of hot buttered toast…
The old power station at Thorpe Marsh in 2006…Minus it’s two 400 foot chimneys.
Good morning from the bright blue skies over the Atlantic!
For all of the stories of storms and waves the size of buildings, I expect is was conditions like this that lured people to go to sea. I am land lubbing this morning - out for a run a loop that while conveniently made of concrete for skateboarders and moms pushing carriages is brutal on knees. That left me jogging alongside in the grass looking down more for ankle-eating holes than looking up. The neighborhood offers picnic and fishing piers every half mile or so, making good places to stop and smell the roses…or the fish, as the case may be . There are plenty of ibises around happy about the latter.
A bit of a late one today, took a three day break from the gym, you’re supposed to do that every now and then. The only problem is that psychologically it was hard getting back into the routine. Not physically but mentally, just after three days off… weird!
Popped into my local for a quick one before hitting Iceland…
Surfermom, after spending my early years running over rough terrain in the wild places, I drifted onto the roads for the odd half marathon and then the full marathon…I got to love the roads and being able to take my mind off where to put my feet…I could let my mind wander and study nature around me (instead of being fixed on the next few feet of rocks and grass) and the meaning of life. Looking back, I think running long road runs damaged everything except my knees and hips…They are still in excellent working order.
The cooling towers were demolished in 2012 Bruce. They wrapped a steel cable around the base and pulled them down with a digger.
