Good Morning Monday, 20th April 2026

Good Morning forum folks, another week, another post.,

Not much to report today, no walk this morning, coffee and cake meeting of course because it is Monday.

Yesterday arvo I flew my drone for a while because it was a warm still day. School returns this week though the public schools have two pupil free days so the kids are still hanging about the mall until Wednesday.

I have a job to do - repairing an outside tap, the metal post has rusted through and the pipe is more like a hose, definitely not copper so it is flopping about and annoying me.

Enjoy the new week.

Take care.

Hi

Good morning Bruce and all who follow.

Dawn has broken and it is very chilly, but no wind.

I have a bleed in my forearm, a right mess.

I have to rest it on my leg, sitting up, so my jeans are saturated with blood.

A side effect of two of the meds which keep me alive.

Rivaroxaban and Clopidogrel.

Both blood thinners, anticoagulants.

I have Unstable Angina, which means I can have an attack even at rest.

I am part of the Hospital at Home Scheme, but being a Scientist who hates being in Hospital I have a wider range of Meds to self administer in an Emergency

I can up my daily dose of Clopidogrel from 75mg to 600mg in an emergency, something they normally only do in A and E Resus.

Really annoying but it keeps me alive.

Morning all, frosty start earlier but at least the sun is up…
Not too good here either healthwise, but at last I have an appointment this Friday at the pain clinic, who I desperately hope may be able to help me…

Crikey! everybody is having medical issues.

I too went to the doctor this arvo but mine was for some OxyNorm tablets because I ran out after my fall and for the doctor to send a medical certificate to the driving licence place so I can drive for another year.

Basically I have no complaints but I hope you fellas get better quickly, can’t afford to be sick at our age.

OGF what’s ICD?

Morning all…

Another sunny day here in southern Hampshire. Nothing too exciting going on here. I’m off on my daily walk, the wife is busy catching up with chores, later drop her off at the gym and from there, off to an ear specialist. Somewhen between all that, I guess a pub lunch somewhere. Not forgetting a coffee…

Have a great day all…

Morning all – another sunny start to the day although rain is forecast for later

Hope those suffering ill health feel better soon

Received 6(!) emails this morning from the cleaner telling me her visit had been rescheduled for half an hour later. When I replied pointing out a text would have sufficed she said she was having problems getting used to a new booking system – I just hope her cleaning skills are better than her computer skills!

Neighbours had their grandchildren visit yesterday – is there a better sound than children laughing and playing? When I spoke to them later they said the 4 year old had asked where the cat was. Trying to explain it to her gently they said that she had become very ill and the vet had to send her to heaven. The little girl thought about that and then said “so she is dead”. Sometimes children can be so matter of fact!

They are off on a cruise in a couple of weeks – they booked it a year ago to celebrate their anniversary but at the moment they don’t feel like going

Take care – have a great day

Sort of similar yesterday - nine of us plus the wee two dogs. My daughter and her husband did most of the cooking on the charcoal grill in the garden. Vast amounts of everything !!! And my sister treated the dogs far too much…( Anyway, it was a lovely day for all of us !

Hi Bruce… :039:
An ICD is an ‘Implanted Cardiac Device’ the one I’ve had for four years is a pacemaker to keep my heart regular and prevent it from stopping or going too fast, and a defibrillator for getting my heart beating again if it ever stops (because without the pacemaker it goes very slow 35 beats per minute)
I visit the Sheffield Northern General every year to have it checked and adjusted if required, they also tell me the expected battery life remaining. Today there is 9.5 years of battery life left.
I just referred to it as an ICD because that’s it’s official name.

After visiting the hospital I called in at the motorway services for a full English…Ironic yes?
:face_with_hand_over_mouth:
The M18 motorway was very busy with a few queues and holdups, the M1 motorway was even worse, also, finding a car parking space at the hospital is a nightmare, last year we had to park two miles away. So I set off early for my 9:30 am appointment…and arrived an hour early but they wheeled me in anyway…

All the best Besoeker, hope the results are favourable…
A very nice Hospital at Worksop, did a lot of work there during my days as a courier and then several visits with my friend and neighbour who was being treated for breast cancer.
She has recovered nicely…

Thank you kindly, Mr Foxy. I do hope your friend gets good results. For me its a problem in my throat and I don’t know quite how it will pan out.

Got it now. I was worried because the first two letters IC to do with hospitals - “Intensive Care”

I remember the motorway services when I was there last time, they sell beer BUT, at the time, UK seemed to have never heard of twist tops and the only opener was at the checkout. I had to open my beer on the edge of the table!

I hope by now they have twist tops but I have already put a bottle opener in my bag just in case.

I don’t mind MRI scans, one gets very comfortable and they take a fair while, am sure it is just the noise that stops you dropping off (oh, and the operator telling you to hold your breath or keep still).

Hi

I can’t have an MRI Scan.

I have too much metal shrapnel in my body.

I have seen some pretty dramatic pictures of the MRI machine being turned on with a metal object in the room.

They ask if I have hip or knee replacements, which I don’t, it doesn’t seem to affect my mercury amalgam fillings at all though.

I don’t think I can have an MRI what with some electronics all wrapped up in metal box about the size of a matchbox and sewed into my shoulder.
I did learn something interesting about my pacemaker yesterday though.
Apparently, there are some crystals in the box that shake around during exercise to allow the pacemaker to let the heart go faster instead of the usual 60 bpm it’s set at.
Mine had been switched off, so it was reset. Hopefully, it will mean that I can jog for longer and recover faster…

Nothings changed, you’d be wise to take a bottle opener with you on your forthcoming visit Bruce…Apart from the pumps in the pub, all the best stuff comes in a bottle with a pressed on top…None of this canned stuff… :009:…Yuk!

I’m with you on that, I only buy beer in Stubbies or Long necks, can’t stand drinking out of cans.

BUT Twist Tops are genius, it is hard to believe the UK doesn’t have them, even home brewers used to use them (they seem to use screw on tops now)
