Good Morning Monday, 19th January 2026

Good morning marvellous Monday men and menesses (there is only so much you can do with alliteration :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: )

More rain overnight but only about 5mm, I have had more rain fall in the last few days than fell over the entire previous three months, we needed it but perhaps not quite so much.

I packed my umbrella in my back pocket this morning to attend the first coffee and cake morning of 2026. It was great to be out and about after having spent the last couple of days rattling about the house. On the way home nipped into the supermarket for milk and a few other items.

Not sure what the rest of the day holds, hope you have a terrific start to the week, have fun.

Take care…

Morning all…

A grey and damp start of week here down on the south coast. Just come back from my daily walk, but noticed all the swans have disappeared which may have something to do with some nearby roadworks that could have scared them off.

Not much to say about today, we in the midst of post-Christmas house cleaning and the wife’s off to the gym later. Need to go to town at some time for a hair trim amongst other things. Meanwhile, I’m sat here drinking my coffee…

Have a great day all…

:slightly_smiling_face: :coffee: :+1:

Useless post office/DVLA should be sued . Back end oct 2025 I had a letter to renew my driving licence. Filled it out and sent it back, Since then 4 phone calls to the DVLA and 2 emailes resulting in nothing.
Today got in touch with Speck Savers their medical dept who said the letter was sent out from the DVLA on the 2 Jan 2026. well I never got it.
Rang Specsavers just now and got through to their medical dept. They looked at their records and said I should have got the appointmnet code for the DVLA eye test on the 2 Jan 2026.
OK next part
contacted local SS branch and got a booking for both checks NHS and DVLA on the 28 this month. GREAT AT LAST!!! opps don’t do the DVLA on that date so rebooked both for the 29 Jan 2026, erm same day but about an hour apart.

No wonder this country is in a mess, even If my DVLA eye test is ok will still have to wait to hold the actual licence in my hand

@realspeed … I’m exhausted just reading that! Good luck with it.

Just call me a bag lady it’s easier to pronounce.

Not a bad day here. Done a few errands and now I’m checking out the world. Yeh, I know … sad hey.

Good day everyone, a bit late, but better late than never… :+1:
Early morning walk in the damp misty conditions, it’s different and not all that unpleasant, I much prefer it to sub zero temperatures and snow and ice everywhere, if we have to endure winter I’ll take this until spring…Being depressed and despondent is all in the mind…
:sunglasses:
The garage hasn’t looked at our daughters car yet, I pass the compound every day on my walk and her lonely DS3 has occupied the same space for nearly a fortnight now. She rang me all upset, so I sent in the big guns and went down there myself for a face to face…
He explained they were waiting for parts and would jump into action as soon as they arrived…
I returned home and punched in the job on youtube…I used to eat jobs like that…
:hammer_and_wrench:
Blimey, it’s a bitch of a job and I don’t blame the garage for dragging their feet. It’s like nothing I’ve ever done before. What’s all that stuff for under the bonnet?
It was a piece of cake to do a clutch on a mini back in the day…

It’s technology Foxy … it’ll be the death of the human race.

The humble motor car has turned into something more complicated and complex than it ever needed to be Morty. The average driver needs one to get to work and transport the shopping home from Tesco (other food outlets are available) it just keeps the rain off your head in inclement weather.
A normal human needed no assistance or distractions from a computer barking orders from a 15 inch screen on the dashboard. If you do need the assistance , you have no business being let loose on busy roads.

I was reading just yesterday that car manufacturers are going back to knobs and buttons for the most used functions in a car. They have learned that people don’t want to use a screen to turn up the AC or the radio etc.

Yes that’s true Bruce, lot’s of stuff on the internet about the distractions caused by screens in cars.
