Just returned from my regular Coffee and Cake meeting with friends where we chat and discuss our week end antics and plans for the rest of the week.
Spring is clearly not far away as temperatures this week are predicted to be in the low 20s.
Might go for a walk this arvo as it is warm enough, after the cold weather I need to get out more.
Will be dismantling my newly recovered laptop too, I need to know the internal battery type as the model was supplied with two different ones for some reason. I don’t want to order the wrong one.
Apart from that nothing else planned.
Have a lovely day youse all (lapsing into the vernacular there )
Once I sprung the case off it was easy to find the number/type of battery and have ordered another one.
The case was held in by just six screws and innumerable clips but the battery is only held in by a couple of screws and has a small plug (next to the fan) - should be easy to change.
The removable battery seems OK (for its age) but I suspect this one has a faulty cell because it holds no charge at all and the laptop keeps reporting it is missing.
Wouldn’t normally bother but this laptop is still fast enough and has a really nice keyboard compared to the Dell I am typing this on (I can’t even remember why I abandoned it).
Good morning - Cloudy with the Sun breaking through. Only 14ºC though (8.15 a.m.) The days are getting noticeably shorter. Downhill all the way to December now. The Moon was big and pink in colour last evening. Not the new tablets I’m on. It really was pink.
Supermarket shopping this morning. This afternoon I might visit an old schoolfriend who lives just along the road from me.
I have an old Dell laptop Bruce. It probably does need a new battery but I only ever use it on the power supply. The reason I took it apart was to change the HDD to an SSD. It made huge difference. Might be worth considering with yours while it is apart if it uses an HDD.
I haven’t been outside yet but looking through the window it doesn’t seem to be a bad day. The sun is peeping through the clouds at the moment. I was thinking the same as you @mart yesterday evening, that the nights are beginning to draw in - I seem to close the curtains earlier each evening - I don’t put the lights on until I close the curtains because I don’t like the idea of people looking in … mind you, I have to admit that I don’t think that way when I walk past other people’s homes when their lights are on
I have to take Annie dog to the vet this morning for her jab. She is a retired racing greyhound and sadly suffers from osteoarthritis in her front legs. She has an injection every four weeks that keeps the pain at bay. She doesn’t seem to mind visiting the vet, possibly due to the treats that come after the jab.
I shall do more weeding in the front garden later - the little blighters seem to pop up overnight!
I see royal mail have not got any better. their tracking system is unbelievable
Sorry, we’re currently unable to confirm the status of your item with reference OH3***********B . Please try again tomorrow.
why do they even bother.
No wonder companies like amazon are doing so well with next day deliveries as well.
even other couriers are quicker than RM.

No, it already has an SSD, I don’t think you’ve been able to buy a laptop without an SSD for years, Even my desktop has an SSD for the Operating system and a couple of HDD for the files and that’s a fair few years old.
I wouldn’t worry about the battery except that because it has two it complains about the internal one not working.
I have to say that I think Australia Post is incredibly good, their tracking system is on my phone and they know exactly where a package is at any given moment. Amazon here use them for deliveries either by post or as a courier (Star Track) - never been able to fault them.
re courers again
Major mixup from DPD. first accepted parcel then cancelled it something to do with something or other internally. Now accepted it again, so i had to find the supplier and ask for conformation the order was still standing
DPD very nearly lost the supplier the order as I was about to cancel, but emailed them first with my phone number to ring me back on. they rang back and confirmed the order still stood.
supplier email to me
Thank you very much for your purchase and for your message. You order has not been cancelled. There was a problem on DPD website, so the consignment booking had to be cancelled and then a new booking was created a few minutes later. You should have hopefully received another email from DPD regarding the new consignment booking."

Shows how old my Dell is. The conversion to SSD was for the best but I still don’t use it very much …probably not enough to have warranted the expense as it turns out.
I should think the Australian postal system is good Bruce when they only have to deliver to 29 million people…My walk was almost that big when I was a postman…
There may be a small population but the walk is 7,700,000 sq km, I doubt your walk was that large and a letter is only $1.50 (75p) to post anywhere in that vast continent.
I was about to say you don’t really need a postal service in the UK just keep handing a letter to the person next to you and it will get to its destination in no time at all
