Good Morning Monday 16th September 2024

Good morning all those in forum land, once again it is actually arvo for me but it is still morning in WA if that is any comfort

It was very windy yesterday to the point it shook my camper, I was worried I wouldn’t sleep but at about 8pm the wind just disappeared so all was sweetness and light. Actually the tail wind did no end of good for my fuel consumption which was down to 9.6 litres per 100km.

Today I am in Mitchell in Queensland at the Major Mitchell Caravan Park - the town and the bird were named after him I am sure he is in Wikipedia.

I had all sorts of plans for a stops during this drive few of which came to pass but I think I have a picture of a kangaroo standing in the road for the Roo obsessed @realspeed . I will post some pics later perhaps.

Am staying here for a couple of nights, not a cloud in the sky which is lovely during the day but means a cold night.

Have a great Monday whether at work or just out for hedonistic pleasure. Take care…

Good morning forum people! :sunny:

Hey Bruce!
Good to hear that you’ve had the wind behind you and that your travels are going well :+1:
I’m not employed today, such is the nature of agency work, both blessing and curse. I think I’ll make a very, very hot chilli con carne this morning and pop it in the slow cooker for tonight, probably with some delicious garlic bread :yum:

Have a terrific start to the week folks!

Good morning - It’s sunny but a bit nippy here. Expected to go up to around 22ºC later. Autumn weather now. Cold nights but possible pleasantly warm days. The leaves will start turning brown soon I expect.

Supermarket shopping this morning. No medical appointments for the coming week (Hooray!). Should be able to manage a nice peaceful and warm sit in the garden later, viewing the place through my eyelids

I hope everyone has a good day. Happy travels and cooking.

Good morning from my rather overcast part of Kent. Not much on today that needs my urgent attention (at the minute) might pop into town later and get a trim. Have a good day one and all.

Morning all – a lovely sunny morning, if a little bit chilly

Oh Bruce, I really hate strong winds - in my last house I was always convinced one of the chimneys would come down!

The beast was very good last night and used her tray. Demanded cuddles again this morning and then refused to go out. I will have to go back in later to see if she has changed her mind

After finishing the ironing yesterday I had a very lazy day, finished one book and started another. Today will be different, housework and I also have to get myself organised and send for the auctioneer to have a look at the things I want to get rid of (I have decided to keep the silver). I also need to re-organise my extensive DVD collection

Take care – have a lovely day

not such a good morning today. Yesterday the grandchildren and D-I-L flew back to Brazil. Sue and I Were needed as well to go to Heathrow London airport to help with luggage etc, so not a happy time saying goodbye. I don’t think the kids actually wanted to go because they had built their young lives here in the UK.
Before any comments I just can’t understand why apart from her mother has some kind of hold over her, her dad wants her to come to the UK

I sympathise. Some of our family have decided to make their homes in other countries. Video chats are OK but it’s not the same as having them live here. Frequent visits are made but goodbyes are always sad.

Good Morning From Foxy’s World…
A thick mist had descended over this little South Yorkshire village during the night, but it didn’t deter Foxy from his morning walk/jog, 8 degrees C when I left the house, but it had gone up to 11 degrees C by the time I returned and it’s got the makings of a lovely sunny day.
Walking through the bungalow estate where I live there were a couple of telecom blokes laying out some cable, after a quick natter I discovered it was fibre and getting ready for the new home phone system that will replace the old landlines. We’ll all be on the internet soon whether we like it or not. Our good friends and neighbours are worried, they don’t have broadband or even a computer, and although the lady has a smartphone the internet is switched off. She’s so worried that it will cost her more money than the £4 she currently pays.
Morning Chilli, that hot Chilli your putting together sounds brilliant, I just love Chilli…Isthat how you got your avatar?

Yep, like it or not Foxy we’re all eventually going to be held by the short and curly fibres, so to speak…

Spot on Foxy, thank you!
Combined with a bit of an affection for a certain type of footwear…

Not very good for running marathons in, I’d imagine

Good morning from the beaches of north Florida!

It’s a pleasure to read everyone is well, but I know how your heart drops when the kids go, @realspeed. They say that families tend to be launchers or nesters. Launchers have the joy and pride of watching their children spread their wings, but the ache of distance is a real . I hope you can make it their way soon!

My daughter and I are back from our quick adventure. The surf was beautiful, despite the post-storm murky water. We stayed in one of those resorts where visitors tend to stay poolside and sadly miss out on the surf and shoreline. Most were content to sit and ride through the lazy river on floats, which you can see where the reddish lights are illuminated. Many people were visiting from South America, so we had good-natured conversations about culture and our various countries. It was an enjoyable evening; my daughter watched a very well-done hula show on the stage (white roof) while I just enjoyed the music and scenery from my lofty vantage point.

Great beach for running, @OGF!

Near-perfect surf; long periods and glassy conditions:

Here’s a pano. The building is arch-shaped, and we timed it right. Notice that the waves had flattened out, and the period (time between peaks) is very short showing that the swell had really deteriorated by sunset…

Have a pleasant day!

Nice park! I looked at the pics and it appears to have a lot of amenities and is close to several day excursions. Hope it’s not too crowded!

Grief, OGF, I am shivering at the thought of it.

Technology carries us along on the wave, doesn’t it! It seems like just yesterday that we were watching the clock and counting minutes to be economical.

You can say that again Surfer, it seems like only yesterday when I was on a wild adventure out in the country that I had to find a telephone box to report back to Mrs Fox that all was well…A pocket full of coins was essential…

That is a sentimentally lovely photo, OGF. Good times for you, I’m sure! You reminded me of younger years when I would search the seats, nooks, and crannies for the possibility of a random coin or two for either the pay phone…or gasoline.

I miss the days of not being tied to phone leash. There was something about taking off down the road and disconnecting from the world that felt so freeing. My first job out of college had me traveling far and wide, armed with cassette tapes, and otherwise cut off from the world. That is one of the reasons I enjoy running so much.

Besides, I suspect that occasional technological isolation made our relationships better - more longing and mystery, less knowledge of the mostly inane stuff that runs through each other’s minds throughout the day :joy:.
