Good Morning Monday,16th December 2024

Good morning to everybody on the last working week before Christmas. 31° today and even warmer tomorrow with 47° predicted for central NSW.

A pretty tedious morning for me, spent far too long at the doctors getting a new prescriptions and a referral for my specialist (though I think they are talking of doing away with them) Hate waiting in his waiting room, all doctors are late seeing patients but this one is the worst. Every so I think of looking for a new doctor.

Yesterday arvo replaced the fluorescent light in the laundry with a LED strip which I think looks much better. Though on reflection that tube had been there for about 35 years and never been replaced so it did well. The new light is on its lowest setting but very bright.

I had intended to go to the Seniors club office and update the computer there with Windows 11 but that can wait.

Quiet afternoon for me just keeping cool, hope you have an interesting day.

Take care…

Good Afternoon Bruce and Eliza…Seems a bit sparse in here today…
Mrs Fox sang well at the Sunday afternoon carol service and choir exhibition down at the local church. That’s her in the white jumper stood at the back near the Christmas tree…

The carol service was held outside in the churchyard and after a selection of carols we moved inside the church for a mince pie and a glass of mulled wine…The ladies choir also performed inside the church and sang a selection of modern popular songs. Too cold and dark to stay outside any longer than we had to…

It was such a good performance that I washed the pots after a late dinner (it should have been Mrs Fox’s day to wash the pots)
11 degrees C for my walk this morning, and wanted to call in at the surgery with my prescription, it doesn’t open until 8:30am so didn’t do any jogging and just meandered along the towpath taking photos of these narrow boats overnighting. They’ve actually been there three days now.

As a thank you to all the ladies attending the church yesterday the choir master (actually a choir mistress) is throwing a party for them this afternoon. I’ve been charged with taxi duties…I hope they don’t drink too much, can’t be doing with giddy old ladies… :009:

Good morning from the coast of Gulf of Mexico!

@Bruce, as a latecomer to the LED world, your fixture is a good improvement. It’s interesting how some fluorescents last months, while other last years. That got me thinking about how the bulbs were made, and I couldn’t remember what gases were used in the process.

@OGF, how nice that Mrs. OGF is in the choir! It’s nice to see so many participating! The sanctuary is as lovely as the outside! And what of these narrowboats? While I knew something akin to them in Amsterdam, this is something entirely new to me! Some of the designers are very clever, and I expect that the people who are willing to put the effort into upkeep and not into open seas must love their adventures.

@Eliza what are you growing?

I am at the beach place for a few days, escaping the madness of end-of-year projects. This is a rare holiday in which no one is visiting and we don’t have to be going anywhere. I am winding down being the president of our association after six years, so I have a mountain of things to do to prepare files and manual for the next (foolish :icon_wink:) person who will take on the work. I’ve enjoyed the work very much but after overseeing the entire rebuild of the place after two hurricanes, I’m ready for the break, but I digress…

This is a fairly ordinary image of what the beach looks like this time of year. The colors change year round, but I like the muted palette and the peace that goes with it in the winter. I took this from the beach trail:

Have a nice day!

I loved this time of year when we would sing round the Christmas tree in the Pinfold , and on Christmas Eve ,the Carol concert that went along with the story of Jesus . In a Candle lit church . it was just magical …I live further away and miss it a lot .your choir photos brings back memories , thank you …

Good afternoon all!

A really positive day!
Love the traditional carol service Foxy, may I say well done Mrs Fox?

I have a friend in rural North Wales, she has two lovely Bernese mountain dogs, very huggy :dog::dog:

It was touch and go for one of them very recently, after surgery the vet has given her the all clear!

My CV has been accepted by a local recruitment agency, just a case of formalities it would seem before moving on :+1:

Have a good day people! :christmas_tree:

I know all about this - they can stay up to 14 days on the mooring under Canal Trust rules. I follow some Youtube channels that cruise the canals of England and Wales.

I like geraniums because they grow like a weed, I just break a piece off and stick it in the ground. If I remember I will take some photos of one that I like because it flowers all year round.

My BH has done that in the front garden, where much else doesn’t grow because of the pine trees.Ours are more of a flesh colour than actual pink. They don’t seem to attract any insects like bees or butterflies though.
