Good morning!
About average all round - mixed sun & cloud; not too cold; not actually raining, but wet streets & feels damp
A few things to report -
The electrician called yesterday afternoon, and as you might have expected, everything worked OK
My cooker is a cheap one that I bought when I moved in about 9 or 10 years ago.
He said that by modern standards, as cheap electrical stuff goes, that’s old now, and liable to develop faults
What’s probably happened is that a bit of water got into the electrics somehow, possibly via a hotplate, even though they’re supposed to be solid sealed units
Then while I waited for an electrician and didn’t use the cooker for 3 or 4 days it dried out and cured itself
So just keep an eye on it and try to avoid splashing/spilling any more water
Well as I said, it’s cheap and I’ve never been particularly keen on it, so if it happens again I might just buy a better new one
As for today -
Going to the Men’s Shed this morning, based at a community centre
It’s early days but we’ll see if anyone else turns up
Back home for early afternoon and I’ll finish my packing for my trip off to my daughter’s 40th birthday party
I live in Lancashire and she lives in Gloucestershire, so I’ll drive steadily during the afternoon and into the night; stop for a while in a layby or side road or something for a doze & coffee, then set off again when it gets light, to arrive at her house early Saturday morning
You might find this strange, but I like driving at night if I have a long trip to make - it’s peaceful (well as peaceful as roads are now), there’s no hurry, and I can watch the sun come up over the English countryside
This time I’ll try to avoid Spaghetti Junction by going down the M6, then M54 towards Telford, Bridgnorth, Kidderminster, Worcester, back onto M5, and off at the junction in Gloucestershire … we shall see
After the weekend I’ll probably spend a few days cruising around Glos, Oxon, Somerset looking at castles, museums, etc.
