Good Morning Friday,, 6th June 2025

Good morning on this cold winters morning, once again the temperature plunged to 9°C last night and is only going to get up into the mid to high teens today. I hate the cold.

Remembered to fetch in my bins this morning which was good, one can get out of the habit after being away…

Have ordered an Amazon Basics camera bag, while I was away I found certain disadvantages with the bag I was using to carry the video camera so have lashed out on a simple, cheap, black one, hopefully it will hold the video camera, still camera, batteries and charger. We shall see, it could end up in an Op shop.

Nothing exciting planned for today other than keeping warm, am confining myself to either the garden or my bedroom where I have a fan heater running. At least the sun is shining outdoors.

Remember Smiley?

Have a fabulous Friday.

Take care…

Good morning!
About average all round - mixed sun & cloud; not too cold; not actually raining, but wet streets & feels damp

A few things to report -

The electrician called yesterday afternoon, and as you might have expected, everything worked OK
My cooker is a cheap one that I bought when I moved in about 9 or 10 years ago.
He said that by modern standards, as cheap electrical stuff goes, that’s old now, and liable to develop faults
What’s probably happened is that a bit of water got into the electrics somehow, possibly via a hotplate, even though they’re supposed to be solid sealed units
Then while I waited for an electrician and didn’t use the cooker for 3 or 4 days it dried out and cured itself
So just keep an eye on it and try to avoid splashing/spilling any more water
Well as I said, it’s cheap and I’ve never been particularly keen on it, so if it happens again I might just buy a better new one

As for today -
Going to the Men’s Shed this morning, based at a community centre
It’s early days but we’ll see if anyone else turns up

Back home for early afternoon and I’ll finish my packing for my trip off to my daughter’s 40th birthday party
I live in Lancashire and she lives in Gloucestershire, so I’ll drive steadily during the afternoon and into the night; stop for a while in a layby or side road or something for a doze & coffee, then set off again when it gets light, to arrive at her house early Saturday morning
You might find this strange, but I like driving at night if I have a long trip to make - it’s peaceful (well as peaceful as roads are now), there’s no hurry, and I can watch the sun come up over the English countryside

This time I’ll try to avoid Spaghetti Junction by going down the M6, then M54 towards Telford, Bridgnorth, Kidderminster, Worcester, back onto M5, and off at the junction in Gloucestershire … we shall see

After the weekend I’ll probably spend a few days cruising around Glos, Oxon, Somerset looking at castles, museums, etc.

Morning all…

Unsettled sunny weather with heavy showers today means postponing my daily walk until later.

Mrs G is away today tending to my father-in-law with doctors, hospitals, blood tests and X-rays, so she has had her hands full lately, leaving me on my own again. The reason I’m not involved is because her car isn’t big enough to accommodate all three of us and my F-I-L’s electric scooter all at the same time.

Meanwhile, on a lighter note, just had notification that we can check in ready for our cruise in a few weeks time, which has come round really quick. Until then, I may decide to wander up to our coffee shop and have one of their breakfast sandwiches, which is amazingly nice.

Have a great day everyone…

Going to have a look at some fridge/freezers shortly and then I’ll be taking the car for the M.O.T.

A trip to the doctors this afternoon for the 3-monthly LHRH injection.

Have a good day.

Around Iceland to see volcanos and puffins and along to Norway to see some fjords. 16 days of too much food and drink and generally not doing anything too strenuous.

:volcano: :ship:
