Good Morning Friday, 3rd April 2026

Good morning all on this Good Friday, the bin truck has bin and gone enjoying double time and a half while the local Christians have wandered past my house on their way to and from the nearby catholic church.

It’s a bit overcast today though not cold, currently the temperature is about 27° I doubt it will get much warmer.

No walk for me this morning, I take my dog sitting duties very seriously :icon_wink: This dog is a Labrador, quite big and strong, it is the only one of my kid’s dogs that I no longer take for walks. If it decided to run I don’t think I could stop it, just too much mass.

We do however have a bit of fun in the garden fetching balls, ropes, indeed anything it can pick up in its mouth basically.

My son in law should arrive soon by train after the party in Sydney last night, apparently the birthday person had taken over a night club for the event. My daughter will arrive later in their car fresh from another appointment at the tattooist.

I will be offering my son in law copious amounts of beer when he arrives because for the third year in a row all trains on the South Coast line are being replaced by buses so I suspect he will be fed up with travel by the time he returns. You’d have thought the State government could have postponed the maintenance while the fuel shortage is on - probably too sensible an idea.

Anyway my day has consisted of games with the dog, she does drop rather obvious hints, not a bad way to spend a public holiday, the streets are deathly quiet.

Enjoy your day of rest.

Take care.

I have had 3 Labradors and yes they can pull @Bruce , and I Have been pulled over, on one occasion I was spun round like a spinning top and finished on my back , it winded me good and proper .

It sounds windy out side , and looking at the weather chart we are also in for some rain .

Not sure what I m doing today ,may go for a walk .

Good morning, I can identify with your posts our friends Labrador, not yet fully grown, is very strong so we cannot walk him, but he is well behaved and made himself at home on his first visit to my apartment on Monday !

Happy Easter to all

Morning all – wet and windy today (the weather, not me!)

Still not worked out how to remove the bags from the sack! I even turned it inside but still can’t get them out – may take a pair of scissors to it!

Meet up with the girls yesterday was really lovely, once again we were the last to leave. The cakes looked delicious – I was very good and didn’t have any!

Expecting another book today – thought it would be delivered tomorrow but have received notification it will be coming today, odd thing is 3 other books ordered at the same time will not be delivered until tomorrow!

OK time for a whinge! Today is Good Friday a special day in the Christian calendar. When other religions have special days local radio either does a separate programme about it or at the very least devote a section of the morning programme to it. The only mention of Easter this morning has been to talk about chocolate, when to eat Easter eggs and hot cross buns! Now I understand there are those who don’t believe and don’t want to hear about it on local radio and I respect that, but shouldn’t that apply to all religions, not just Christianity?

Take care – hope everyone has a relaxing Easter break

Good morning all…

Wet and windy day today on the south coast. Not sure what’s happening today, being a Bank Holiday. I wanted to go to a woodland for a photoshoot or visit a local castle holding a medieval joust, but the weather has put a damper on all that. So I have no idea what’ll be happening today. May go for a coffee later.

Have a good day all…

Good morning everyone. We too had black labs for awhile, but for our last dogs we downsized to cokapoos, one of which we lost to illness five years ago but the other one is still thriving at just turned fifteen. :slightly_smiling_face:

Do nuns get into the habit of doing the same things day after day?
I got tired this morning, the letter said tear across the dotted line

Thanks Eliza, it’s been a challenge over the last couple of years but light now at the end of the tunnel hopefully, and good to see some of the stalwarts still around the site. Many thanks for your good wishes.

What a nice surprise, great to see you posting Barry…

Such a nice day early on I decided to push the boat out :slightly_smiling_face: and do a longer walk along the canal towpath to the Aquaduct. Heavy skies in the distance, I believe we are in for some rain later, but just sunny spells now :mage: and a mild breeze…
No such problems with Rosie…

She’ll jog off when she’s ready…
I feel the same about Easter Sheila, and people should be aware that the void left behind by the neglect of the Christian faith will allow other religions to become the domineering faith.
Most Anglicans have lost their way and even the Norman church in our village has not had it’s own vicar for a couple of years. Looks like we might be celebrating Eid next year…

Good to see you back Barry, hope you get the photo competitions going again.

Morning Rox, hope you are keeping well. :slightly_smiling_face: Maybe early days for the photo comp, I really need to feel my way again here on Over50’s after such a long break, but perhaps a nice idea to do again in time if there is still any interest in it?

Yes of course, all in good time. As for the photo competitions I’m sure it will take off again AND, we have lots of new members some of whom I’m sure will enjoy it. :hugs:

Yes, I agree. I tried one yesterday.
