Good Morning Friday, 27th September 2024

Good morning all you fantastic Friday forum folks.

At least it is warmer than yesterday, the rainfall over the last two days (27mm) is more than we have had in the last two months which can’t be bad. Now I might change to my summer doona.

In one of those oddities of Australiana, today Victoria has a public holiday to celebrate the AFL (Aussie Rules Football) Grand Final on the weekend. Even more exciting it is only a couple of months before they have another public holiday to celebrate the horse race that stops a nation (the Melbourne Cup). They take their sport very seriously south of the border.

I have a few jobs I’d like to get done today but nothing exciting - everyday is a public holiday for me.

Take care and enjoy your day…

Good morning on this grey and damp day. Plenty of rain overnight but no signs of flooding thank goodness. Further north has it bad according to the News. Must be awful to get flooded out. High pressure is forecast to move in later to brighten up the skies and start drying things out. A long process for those affected.

Not much to do today but I’m sure something will come along to stop me just sitting around. Might walk later if the forecast holds good.

Have a good day.

Morning all – more heavy rain last night, dry, if windy, this morning. Hopefully it will stop raining long enough for things to dry out. The local motorway is flooded and traffic is being diverted off it which is causing traffic jams

Despite being indoors all day yesterday the beast left no gifts, unless she has found a really crafty hiding place which I haven’t found yet. Demanded lots of cuddles this morning before settling down in her favourite chair. Her regular servants have texted me to complain about the heat :rage:

Brother in law found the roof leak yesterday but was unable to fix it. He contacted a local roofer who called yesterday afternoon, explained the problem and is coming back next week to fix it. May have to take up reverse stripping to pay for it (that is where people pay me to keep my clothes on!)

Some laundry and a quick visit to the shops is on the cards for today – so exciting!

Take care – hope everyone has a lovely day

Good morning!
Bright & sunny

I haven’t been on here for a week or so as I’ve been ill -
3 or 4 weeks ago I felt a bit tired & week, in fact I got back under the duvet a couple of times and slept in the afternoon
Then gradually I became worse - still weak & tired, feeling shivery & cold, not much appetite
I managed a few trips to the shops but about a week ago I became worse - really cold, even wearing down slippers, fleece pants, fleece sweater, down body warmer
I put the heating on high but even though I could feel it was hot, I still felt cold, so I turned off the heating and got under the duvet for a day, still wearing all my warm clothes

I’d picked up a urine infection as well, very tender & painful when I peed, which, unfortunately, was much more often than usual
Phoned the doc and got through fairly quickly, who prescribed antibiotics
I’m about halfway through the course, and feel better, but still a bit shivery & shaky

Fortunately thanks to the Lockdown and various other forecasts of shortages, price increases, and other doom & gloom I have plenty of food in - the freezer was full and loads of cans & packets & dried milk so I’ve been eating reasonably well, even though I didn’t have much of an appetite sometimes

A side effect of this is that the place is a tip - no serious cleaning, lots of stuff shoved in corners that should really be packed away properly, dirty washing - at one point I’d worn the same clothes for about 3 days continuously before I managed a shower

I tried reading but couldn’t concentrate, so I’ve spent my time sleeping, & watching daytime TV & YouTube videos on my hobbies and anything else vaguely interesting that YT presented to me

I watched the news about the storms & flooding, we seem to have escaped most of it - rain last night but nothing exceptional

And that’s my news - hope you’re all feeling better than me

Another quiet day at the Fox’s, some rain last night but fine by the time I went for my walk. Can’t have been much as there’s no standing water to wade through. Although the wind is howling through the trees on the green and the sky looks heavy with rain, it’s not in today’s forecast, but it is a cold wind and enough to keep me indoors. Except for a run out to Greggs later for a sandwich and a mug of tea while Mrs Fox and me watch the world go by in the car park…
Here you go Sheila…Do your stuff…
:astonished:

Sorry to hear that you’ve been under the weather Zulu, I hope you are feeling better soon…

Hope you recover soon, nothing worse than just feeling under the weather.

I can understand your food situation, I too have a freezer full of food and cans stashed in every cupboard, I think I could go at least a month without needing to leave the house
