Good morning on the penultimate day of summer (for me), Thank god its Friday - It has rained! 20mm of rain fell overnight, much needed. Sydney copped a hammering apparently with some places getting 100+mm and flash flooding but here it was far more gentle.
In between showers I dived out to get the bins in but apart from that and a couple of trips to the garage I haven’t left the house.
Decided to put the time toward writing an article for the Seniors’ newspaper, I say write but it is more of a rehash of stuff I have written in the past about the branch’s history for different purposes.
Overcast and glum although not raining…yet!
I had a tipoff from a friend this morning.
The boys are back on the road again after an illness in the band…
I made damn sure I bought tickets as soon as they went on sale at 10:00 this morning. The Brighton gig is already a sell out, this one will be too, should be a real buzz!
Back to mundane matters, just domestic chores for the rest of today.
A bit of a damp and drizzily day here on the south coast. Not much going on today, apart from dropping off the wife to the chiropractor and then possibly lunch out somewhere. Would like to get out with my camera again, but this grey clouded light is not the best to take pics in.
Morning Everyone…
Got the urge to go on a longer walk this morning so I did my 5 mile route that finishes down the lane. It could get messy after all the rain we’ve had lately.
Anyway, after nearly witnessing two collisions on the first half mile along the main road with blaring horns and some terrible language…(What’s the matter with drivers today) I hastily crossed the road and disappeared on a path down the side of field.
I passed through a housing estate and onto a muddy path through the woods.
I bobbed out onto the main A18 with queueing traffic at the roundabout. There is a good path all the way to the next village and I made good time along the two mile stretch.
The Daffs looked splendid on the verges and the local scallies hadn’t got to them yet…
Mothers day will eventually bring about their demise…
I turned down a side street and away from the roar of the traffic, it led me to the start of the lane and a large flooded field…
I had this nagging feeling that the lane would be a muddy nightmare but was quite surprised when I got well away from humanity and out into the wilds.
Although a few tractors previously working in the fields had left deep indentations and puddles in the soft surface of the lane, there was always somewhere to walk to avoid wet socks.
It’s early to say yet, and I might regret this, but winter seems to be on the way out, and this Hawthorn in green shoots thinks it’s all over…
No, you;re right Bruce. It’s the constituents who are the losers voting in a party that seems more concerned about world affairs than local issues.
Do you think that the people of Denton and Gorton care how much CO2 is released into the atmosphere or how well the war in Ukraine is going…
