Good morning all you early risers (and late risers too). It is warm enough (mid 20s) but keeps clouding over, there was 17mm of rain last night.
After I had retrieved my bin from the kerb I went for a quick visit to the supermarket for milk and cereal, ended up buying the no name version of Rice Bubbles (you know - snap, crackle and pop)
Then it was trip round all the local op shops looking for reading matter, ended up with a couple of Harlan Coben novels and a boxed set of Kathy Reichs “Grave Secrets”.
Nearly bought a silly sign: This is Bob, Bob has no arms,. Knock, Knock. Who’s there?. It is not Bob.
Today is a rest day after my electrical job but this weekend I want to start on re-greasing the hubs on my camper. They probably don’t need doing but I have got in the habit of doing it every year and it costs virtually nothing, so what the hell?
I learned something today. It is Australia Day on the 26th Jan (Sunday) and therefore a long weekend with Monday off. What I didn’t know is that it wasn’t a national public holiday until 1994! I was very surprised about that. It is still a contentious issue, with First Nations people calling it Invasion Day.
Anyway, contentious or not it is still a long weekend with double demerit points from today until midnight Monday.
That weekend is nearly on us where ever you are, that can’t be bad, can it?
Morning all – wet and windy this morning with gale force winds overnight (although nowhere near as bad as in other parts of UK – hope everyone is keeping safe). Local radio is reporting downed trees blocking roads
Meeting with the usual miscreants yesterday was great fun, as always, they really are a terrific bunch.
Did my grocery shopping, although for some reason a lot of the supermarket shelves were empty – yes that included the toilet rolls shelf! My neighbour called in with some home made cakes – I wish I could say no but they are delicious!
My plans today are to stay indoors as the forecast is for heavy rain and strong winds, so will get some laundry done and some light housework
Take care (especially those in the north of the country)
yes it is windy out there , I have a food delivery this afternoon and Im going out for dinner this evening .
Nothing else happening, but you never know ,
.
Have a good day .
Morning awl! Yes, wind - the front gate blew open and our little dog wandered into the street but she came back immediately when she was called. She is a delight.
Not too bad here in South Yorkshire, 9 degrees C first thing, the overnight rain had blown away and the walk and jog along the canal towpath turned out to be one of the better outings with no problems from the legs or new shoes.
Very invigorating and I managed to keep my hat on…
Good afternoon everyone, sorry to hear about the bad weather you’re all having, on the contrary we’re having unusually high temperatures, 21C at the moment, lots of sunshine and blue sky. It won’t last obviously, we normally get these abnormal crazy days in the middle of winter. This usually causes damage to trees which start flowering prematurely and then get suddenly attacked by icy weather later on during the Winter.
Wishing you all a good start to the weekend, hoping those winds calm down.
That is a beauty of a system, but I hope you all fare well. Besoeker, what a good girl you have!
@Sheila, I am glad a little wind didn’t keep you from having such an enjoyable outing! Good for you!
@Rose, I know how you feel about those false spring; I want to go out and shout to all the little blossoms, “Go back to bed!”
I am finally breaking out of this joint to go for a frosty run before taking a volunteer day to drive a few people from the assisted living center to their doctor’s appointments.
Good afternoon all
Weather not bad here on a south coast .
,
I’ve been busy with the secateurs …
Cheese plant in the lounge went feral with it’s aerial roots.
