Good Morning Friday, 22nd November 2024

Good morning forum folks, it’s a warm sunny day without a cloud in the sky. Tempertures are predicted in the high 20s.

As usual walked the dog but it might be the last walk he gets before he goes home on Sunday because very shortly I am expecting the arrival of another dog. It’s a German Shorthaired Pointer and is too much for me to manage any more (though I might try in the morning even if it is only round the block).

The rest of my laundry was done while I was out walking the dog and is just about dry as, apart from the warm day, there is also a nice breeze.

I have been slowly Pointer proving my plants, this dog likes to dig! Milk crates are very handy.

Spent some time begging the council for a No Parking sign to protect my driveway. I don’t hold much hope I have been trying for decades.

Just remembered I still have on bin to bring in.

Have a lovely Friday it’s the weekend tomorrow so that is something to look forward to.

Take care…

Anything over 20 and our dog isn’t interested.
Weekend starts tomorrow so no schools, we’ll be able to venture out early before it hots up.
How long is the next lodger staying? :grinning:

Morning all – below freezing again last night and although the sun is shining it is still very cold

I envy you that blue sky Bruce! Hope the dogs get on with each other

Beast is continuing to behave herself although she didn’t want to go out after breakfast I will go back in later to see if she has changed her mind, she did go out for an hour yesterday

Neighbours texted to say they will be arriving home around 7.00 pm after which I will be relieved of my cat servant duties – until the next time!

Expecting someone to call about the broken blind today – I have decided not to have it repaired but to have new ones and I will also order new ones for the spare room.

Take care – hope everyone has a great day

Good Morning from the Icy depths of South Yorkshire…
I watched the sun rise while walking the towpath and after running a short stretch I resigned myself to walking the rest of the way. I wasn’t feeling the love, in fact I was not feeling too good at all. Although it was 1 degree C above freezing (warmer than yesterday) the cold was fierce and had already permeated through my gloves and my hands were cold and numb.
Frost lay on all the paths and I was lucky not to slip.
I made it home but apart from taking Mrs Fox to visit the surgery and do some urgent shopping, I shall not leave the house again today…
I envy your warm weather Bruce… :+1:

Good morning - The Sun is well up and the frost is disappearing. Bright but very cold. A named storm (Bert) is due to hit tomorrow but it seems hard to imagine with the day being calm and sunny at present. Bert seems quite a friendly sort of name rather than a destructive one. I don’t know who thinks these names up. Probably just plucked out of nowhere.

I’ve been for a 15 minute brisk walk and now there’s not much to do that won’t wait a while.

Hoping all those suffering with ill-health, injuries or pain will get better soon. Have the best-est possible day.

Typical conversation between Sue and I. There I was trying to get some photos of bees

Me " it is not easy trying to photograph Bees on small plants"

Sue " Well you don’t expect them to hang around do you? They are not going to pose for you with a smile on their face"

Me " No ! Bees can’t smile"
end of conversation

@OldGreyFox,
Bob, and be very careful going out early on these very cold mornings as it is hard work for your heart inhaling the cold air.
Just a little warning for you as we would all miss you.

Good morning from the land of scary things in the bushes!

Oh, @Bruce, I so envy you having a GSP. If I had to choose a breed (mine are almost always mutts) it would be pointers :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:. My first dog as a grownup was a stray GSP and I absolutely adored here. Her only problem was that she was prone to bolting. Beware! I am trying to find a photo, but once again, your picture looks exactly like the area around Westlake Village, California where I went to school.

@Psmith I envy you the temps, and will gladly head your way to take the place of your dog for a walk .

It sounds like nature is settling into the season with the chilly or warm weather, hemisphere dependent. It’s a sunny day here, so after running, I decided to tackle trimming back the fragrant ginger on the west side of the house. They are gangly and tall, about six feet high, and take up about a ten ft. by ten ft section just inside the fence.

Just as I struggled my way into the deepest section, the dogs heard something and went roaring by me, clipping me at the knees and knocking me down flat. In that moment, the meter reader came through the gate, timed perfectly with me rising out of the jungle and struggling to get my feet. I must have looked like a staggering, ragged beast, because I gave the guy such a startle that he shouted, causing me to throw my hands up in the air. In a split second we were both recovering from near heart attacks and laughing at how funny the whole situation looked.

I hardly realized it is Friday with all the work surrounding me, but at least, despite skinned knees, there is a pretty vase of ginger next to me. The dogs are for sale..

Have a pleasant start to the weekend!

We would be honoured to have you as a walking companion as long as you promise not to scare our meter man. :grinning:
My plan to walk early has failed miserably,it didn’t get below 20c all night.

For that kind invitation, I will save you a vase of ginger flowers unbruised by the fall.

As for not scaring the meter man, I a can’t make promises, but we’d sure have fun .

Hopefully there’s a cooler walk for you and your pup in the near future!
