Good Morning Friday 21st June 2024

Good morning on yet another cold Friday, according to the news last night this month is firming up to be the coldest June for nearly 20 years. For those entertaining the winter solstice swim at least the sea is a few degrees warmer than the land!

On the bright side the longest night of the year has passed and this is the shortest day of the year with barely 10 hours of daylight, it can only get better from now on surely?

I suppose it means that most of you in the northern hemisphere have had your shortest night and longest day. Lucky you!

Took my car in this morning for its rego check which it passed so anticipate hearing from the RMS any time today that it is automatically registered for another year (there is no rego fee for pensioners in NSW).

Have a good one, looking forward to the weekend?

Morning all – cloudy start but sun now breaking through

Who knew cats can tell the time!! I was 5 minutes late feeding Beastie this morning and she was very vocal in her displeasure. She didn’t keep me waiting by the open door this morning but went out straight after breakfast – she did leave me a little gift overnight!

More good news yesterday – a friend who had been told her illness may be cancer has now been told it is something less serious and treatable! :mini: You can imagine how pleased we all were for her. Also my brother rang for a catch up – his son has been having a problem with his boss being inappropriate with a female member of staff but has now managed to get it sorted and the man has been asked to “retire early”. :038:

Today’s plan is to start sorting through all the paintings and bric-a-brac I need to get rid of, something I have been meaning to do since I moved here 3 years ago, but with my great niece planning to visit it has given me the impetus to actually do something about it!

Take care – have a great day everyone

I had a Coles delivery today - a 100aH AGM battery. They delivered it to the wrong address ie the house next door. I had to go and fetch it, weighed 26kg. I shall be complaining.

The StarFish Story

adapted from “The Star Thrower” by Loren Eiseley (1907-1977)

Once upon a time, there was a wise man who used to go to the ocean to do his writing. He had a habit of walking on the beach before he began his work.

One day, as he was walking along the shore, he looked down the beach and saw a human figure moving like a dancer. He smiled to himself at the thought of someone who would dance to the day, and so he walked faster to catch up.

As he got closer, he noticed that the figure was that of a young man, and that what he was doing was not dancing at all. The young man was reaching down to the shore, picking up small objects, and throwing them into the ocean.

He came closer still and called out “Good morning! May I ask what it is that you are doing?”hen, why are you throwing starfish into the ocean?” asked the somewhat startled wise man.

To this, the young man replied, “The sun is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them in, they’ll die.”

Upon hearing this, the wise man commented, “But, young man, do you not realize that there are miles and miles of beach and there are starfish all along every mile? You can’t possibly make a difference!”

At this, the young man bent down, picked up yet another starfish, and threw it into the ocean. As it met the water, he said, “It made a difference for that e closer still and called out “Good morning! May I ask what it is that you are doing?”

Have a safe and lovely Friday

Taking advantage of the long days to knock out a couple of paintings to replace the ones that sold. The downside is that it was spent - in doors. Not today, though; I’m back from a run and heading back to work on prepping more decking boards and painting.

On the easel so not quite done; waiting for them to dry to blend out the clouds and more shadows. The second is large 42" X 36" and the wave is smaller, 16" x 30"

That is just wonderful and I am sure he is terribly excited! Let us know how it goes. :grinning:

I am so happy for your friend and her family! That kind of reset reminds us how precious are days are.

If we all just tossed in the starfish… :slightly_smiling_face:
