I drove to Bombala today, its about 100ks each way.
On the way I stopped at Dalgety a small town on the Snowy River (Man from the Snowy River and all that). Anyway two photos, one of the Dalgety weir and one of the bridge at Blundells Crossing built in 1888 both on the Snowy River. The water was lovely and warm, had a paddle - no snow run off at this time of year.
The bridge is heritage listed so still as built, just one lane wide with a wooden decking - a talking bridge - the planks clatter as you go over them to stop termites building their tunnels.
Quite enjoyed Bombala too had a very nice coffee and cake there.
When I returned home I filled up with fuel because tomorrow I am off home again back to everyday living.
Have a great Friday, it’s the weekend tomorrow. Hooray! Any plans?
Morning all – dry but very windy today (the weather not me!)
More great pictures Bruce – love that blue sky!
The meeting with the “girls” started well yesterday until I realised my necklace was gone! It is a crucifix which I bought my husband before we were married and I immediately panicked and started feeling under my clothes to try to find it, fortunately found it caught in my bra. It was only after I found it that I realised I had been rooting around my underwear in full view of a crowded coffee shop!! Will I be allowed back I wonder!
Had a phone call from my brother – he had visited Mum but she was asleep so didn’t wake her. She is now taking her medication and eating but while better than she was, is still unwell. The weekly family dinner had just finished when he rang and it was obvious he had had more than one glass of wine!
No plans for today - just some shopping and housework
No the clasp hadn’t broken - I have magnet fasteners and when I adjusted the collar of my blouse when I got out of the car I must have pulled the fastener apart.
It seems that I have been rescued from several eighteen hour days for a 24 hour break. We are currently whizzing down the interstate on our way to Port St. Joe, an idyllic little village a few hours away. This area has a tremendous problem with stray animals, so we support the humane society by taking a van full of donations and a promise to volunteer in their thrift shop for a few hours. I’ll post photos later in the day.
My first forum thought this morning was our friend, Bob. @OldGreyFox, I hope you are getting the right balance of rest, food, light activity, and whatever else the doctor has on your To Do list.
@Bruce, that river is quite the idyllic spot and I expect refreshing in the summer heat. I notice that your area and those you visit are surprising clear of summer haze and pollution that plague so many place around the world. I like the elegant design of the bridge too. Happy travels home!
@Sheila, how wonderful that you found your necklace; well worth the interesting wriggling and dancing needed to recover it!
Good afternoon everyone and many thanks for your good wishes and even better advice.
Sorry I’ve neglected you recently but lots of people have visited and they stay far too long…Don’t they realise that I’ve important stuff to post on the forum…
They probably come to pay their last respects… Lets not be too hasty…
Anyway, before most friends had shuffled out of their beds I went out for my morning walk.
(I know what you are thinking) but it’s my way of assessing if I am destined for a life of books, jigsaws, and boxed sets of ‘Are you been served’ or ‘Faulty Towers’…
The good news is, I got round my three and a half mile walk in a decent time.
Yep Surfermon, hospital food was brilliant, I tried to book in the second week in July but the ward sister wasn’t having any of it… Very stern lady.
They did recommend a walk occasionally, as long as I take my GTN spray, and although they stopped one of my tablets, they replaced it with two more, some longer term treatment for the angina (Isosorbide Mononitrate) but I reckon the walk to the pharmacy works better than all the meds.
I’m just waiting for an appointment with the cardiologist. I can’t be too serious or else they would have called by now…Wouldn’t they?
