Good Morning Friday, 20th June 2025

Good morning one and all on this Frigid Friday,

I could not believe the temperature this morning. I think it is is cold when it gets to single figures but this morning was a record.

That’s the problem with day after day of cloudless skies, the daytime heat escapes and the night time temps plummet. On the bright side only 24hours before the days start to lengthen

At the moment I can’t go out because I removed the locks from the front door to fill the remaining holes with that wonderful plastic wood. Just waiting for it to dry before sanding it ready to paint. The plastic wood is taking ages to dry even though the temperature is now in the mid teens.

I might be able to start painting on the weekend

Weekend! Yay! it’s Friday!

Have a frolicking Friday.

Take care…

Good morning all! :sun_with_face:

It’s going to be heavy going frolicking today Bruce, far too hot, probably not healthy for the over 50’s :open_mouth::wink:
I was considering taking a short trip on the train with Chilli jnr to one of our favourite haunts Arundel.

Given that it’s going to be another sweltering day we’ve decided to put it off until early next week when the weather forecast is more agreeable.
There’s always plenty to do at home and I have a few bits coming from Amazon.

Enjoy your day forum people and hats off to all Bruce’s hardy frolickers! :+1:

Hi

Good Morning Bruce and all who follow.

The opposite problem with the weather here, it is too hot for my fish.

Instead of heaters I am having to float ice on the tank to cool things down.

I need to do a large water change today on the Marine Tank, when I say me, Kinga will be doing all the lifting.

Have a good day all.

Phew! What a scorcher! Another hot day ahead. The big thing in life at present is what is happening at the end of the garden. The land layout that has been around for the last 25 years has changed.

We got the boys in to move the chalet and it did move without falling to bits. A definite bonus. It will now become just a shed. I’ll post a video of the move later.

The chalet in its new position. It needs a bit of work but should last long enough to see me out…

This is where it was…

The builders will be doing more concreting today until it gets too hot to work.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning!
Bright, hot, and dry

We started our Men’s Shed a couple of weeks ago, so I’m going there to see if there’s been any more interest, and also to do some work!

We have been asked to repair & treat a footpath sign for a local wood, which shouldn’t be too difficult
Although at the moment we just use an ordinary community centre, which is by no means a workshop, in this weather we can do the work outside

Morning all.

Another sweltering day down here in deepest darkest southern Hampshire.

Not sure what’s happening today, maybe a walk and coffee later. Mrs G is still having to deal with my father-in-law’s health problems, which seem to be getting worse and she is now almost constantly on the phone with doctors and hospitals, which is starting to get her down. We need to get away somewhere this weekend, just to have a break from it all, but not sure what to do yet. There again, we have our cruise next week and we’re totally unprepared for it. Everything’s all up in the air at the moment and the hot weather really isn’t helping.

Have a great day all…

Morning all – cloudy start to the day but still hot – temperatures forecast to reach 32c today

My brother rang from Australia yesterday – he is complaining of the cold – it is only 21c!! Reminded him of the temperatures we get in UK during our winter!

Interesting experience at the supermarket yesterday, the lady in front of me had some things which were 40% off, however when they were scanned the discount was not deducted. The cashier, who was a “more mature” lady, probably in her 60s got out a pen and paper and worked out the amount of the discount. Someone behind me said that they couldn’t see a younger person being able to do that. I couldn’t possibly comment!

Only plans for today are some laundry and a little bit of housework (can’t overdo it in this heat!)

Take care – have a great day

:face_with_hand_over_mouth: I’m wicked … I’ve stashed choccy mini rolls in the fridge and then stick them in bowls of yummy ice cream like candles on a birthday cake.

Hmm … Christmas. Old baileys in coffee.

I wouldn’t know about such wickedness :open_mouth:
Maybe try freezing certain confectionery, wine gums etc and pop them into a freezer bag for later.
Slightly odd but it does work :yum:

Best served chilled…

Good afternoon everyone, looks like we’re all in the same boat, scorching hot temperatures! I still wouldn’t swap with @Bruce ‘s 0c!
I went to my fitness class this morning which is getting more and more difficult with this heat. Classes end at the end of the month so it’s worth getting all the possible excersise done before the "lazy’ months of July and August.

Drink lots of water, eat lots of fresh fruit and veggies, no heavy meals, no alcohol , and don’t go out between 11am and 4pm - the"curfew" hours!
Apart from that, enjoy the sunshine!

What a beautiful castle! I really regret not having been to so many places in the UK, especially castle “sightseeing”, I just about visited Windsor Castle, thanks to a school trip!

We often visit Arundel castle, usually when the tulip display is on, or a fair.

It is beautiful, quite pricey though if you want to pay for the full experience and visit the inner rooms etc.

Arundel Cathedral is certainly worth a visit… stunning!

I think The Norfolk’s still own much of the land in that part of the world.

Wonderful!

Beautiful … I love anything like that. Steeped in history and fine architecture.
