Good morning, Friday - 20 September 2024

Good morning,

It’s a beautiful Spring morning here in South Africa. We had our first rains a few days ago and my garden is slowly starting to spring to life.

Friday is a work day for me but there’s not much work getting done today as our team is celebrating Heritage Day (which is a Bank holiday next Tuesday). So, we’re all meant to be dressing up in traditional clothes with a touch of blue and ‘bring and share’ a dish of South African/traditional cuisine. I’ve organised this team event so I’m the host as well. There’s unity in diversity.

Might as well start the long process of getting dressed now.

Have a wonderful day folks whatever you’re doing today!

Good morning to you Minx and all who follow,

It is mid arvo for me and I have been enjoying the fleshpots of Trangie. The local cafe told me everything was finished but the Newsagent come just about everything except groceries sold me some postcards (they are getting to hard to get these days.

With any luck tomorrow I will be in Cowra and home on Sunday. Not a drop of rain has fallen on my journey so I didn’t get to test my new waterproofing but it has been a pleasant enough trip.

Take care…

Good morning - Grey and gloomy today. Rain is forecast for later. Thunderstorms and hailstones are a possibility. That’s about it I think.

Have a good day

Seems my post is awaiting approval! Why does this happen? How are the posts chosen to be approved? Just curious - does anyone know?

Good Morning Everyone from Foxy’s little corner of the universe…
The Solar System
A hard morning in the saddle with an early morning 15 miler out in the wastelands of South Yorkshire. A bit more traffic now as everyone is taking their little darlings off to school in their Range Rovers and SUV’s… :slightly_smiling_face: The weather was kind though with hardly any breeze and 17 degrees C …Apparently the BBC reckoned that there would be some rain at 8:00am but it never materialised…

Nice to see some new faces on the good morning thread (Minx :+1:) be nice to see some photos of your traditional dress… :yum:

Have you been naughty again Sheila? I think certain words seem to cause the bots to overheat and pull certain stuff…I fell foul of them the other morning. I just had to rewrite it removing the offending word… :009:

I sometimes wonder if we are all AI created people having conversations with each other, and are not really proper folk at all, I’ve never actually met any of you in the flesh so to speak
I can see a time when there will be no need for a living breathing soul being sat at a keyboard each day, the forum would just carry on as normal with all these created entities all jabbering away to each other. Azz wouldn’t need to moderate the site…Come to think of it……It wouldn’t need Azz… :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Well, I certainly don’t think I have used any words which could cause the bots to over-react! Just a general chat about my day yesterday

How can I rectify something if I don’t know what the problem Is?

Good morning from the forecasting state of Florida!

Sheila, I had the same thing happen to me, of all things, it was the word “immigrtion”, which is not a word worth review, IMHO.

OGF, you are so right about the AI, I know that many social media sites are now plagued with it, so it reminds me not to get sucked into perceived trends. Nice bike ride! Fall is the perfect time such adventures and we are shy of it by just a day. Perhaps another go?

@Minx, generous of you to plan the work event. I too hope you will show your costume photos!

My attention this morning is drawn to the models - GFS, Canadian, Euro, UKMET - that are all predicting a hurricane midweek next week here. It’s a little early to tell much about the track and intensity, but I am already making mental plans…

Today promises cool 86 degree weather, so I can run a little later and start with a cup of chai and dose of news. I remember my dad telling me that if you had first hand experience with a news event, it was always wrong and he was correct. I’ve extrapolated that to listen and read it like it was bad neighborhood gossip :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:.

Safe traveling and nice blue skies to everyone!

Morning all – dull and overcast with the promise of rain and thunder later! :zap:

No gifts from the beast this morning, although she did keep me waiting before deciding she wasn’t going to leave the house

I think my brother is psychic! Feeling sorry for myself yesterday when he rang me – just for a chat. As I have said before we always end up laughing and yesterday was no exception. He has several medical problems – much worse than mine - but somehow manages to remain optimistic and positive so it is always a pleasure to speak with him – not that I would tell him that. I’m his sister, it is my job to insult him and keep him from getting big headed!! I told him about my problems getting a GP appointment and he told me he can get an appointment with his doctor within a couple of days. I said I was thinking of moving to Australia and I could move in with him – that’s when he told me Australia was no longer accepting any people from UK :disappointed:

Strange thing happened yesterday evening – went next door to feed the beast when I noticed someone had dropped a cardigan in the middle of the pavement, no-one around so I picked it up, folded it and left it on the side of the pavement so it wouldn’t get stepped on. It is still there this morning! Now if I had dropped a cardigan I would have retraced my steps to see if I could find it. I tend to overthink things so I am now wondering what I should do if it isn’t reclaimed – should I just leave it there, put it in the bin (if I do can I be charged with theft :policeman:)

Didn’t make it to the coffee and gossip meet up yesterday but did spend some time swapping some of my summer tops for winter jumpers – hopefully I won’t need them for a while.

Expecting a book delivery today and my sister in law is calling in for a catch up this afternoon. :coffee: :wine_glass:

Take care – have a lovely day

I must take issue with you about 30 degrees C (86 F) being anything but ‘Cool’ Surfer…
I think high summer here produced two or three days where the temperature reached a sweltering 30 degrees…

I stopped listening to the news when I found it was making me angry, sad or just depressed for the rest of the day.

Oooooo, just gorgeous, Minx! I love the brocades, embellishments, and that gorgeous combination of color! I would think that you would feel very feminine wearing it . It is definitely flattering!

It looks like you had good participation with the treat and those samosas look amazing I hope everyone had a great time.
