Good Morning Friday, 18th April 2025

Good morning on this very Good Friday when we celebrate the birth of the Easter Bunny. It used to be the Easter Bilby but I haven’t seen chocolate Bilbies in the shops for ages. Already I have eaten my quota of Hot Cross Buns for the day.

It was a lovely morning for a walk, you would hardly believe it was autumn with horizon to horizon blue skies, Magpies and Kookaburras making their usual raucous songs. 29/30° max is predicted for today.

Took advantage of the good weather to wash my bedding and dirty clothes and hang them on the line.

It is one day that all the shops are shut and even now at nearly midday there are no traffic sounds at all.

After my visit to my GP yesterday my driving licence is safe for another year.

On the way home from him I called in to collect my new specs, while I was there I asked about new lenses for my old glasses that I had scratched. I thought about getting them made as sunnies rather than colour changing lenses, they told me it would cost about $400. That’s a lot but multi focals are the biggest cost, will have to think about it.

I am not sure what the long weekend holds for me yet, hope yours is better planned than mine.

Take care…

Good morning on this Good Friday. I’ll be staying home this Easter. Out of the race for the coast or any other attraction. Happy in my home and garden.

Funny really. I’m not a religious person but was brought up in a Catholic household and even went to a Catholic boarding school for a while. Even though those days are long gone, I still feel uneasy if I eat meat on a Good Friday, so I won’t today in memory of my dear old Mum. Not eating meat should apply to every Friday if religious but that would be too much for me. Just shows that you can’t get away from your upbringing sometimes.

Happy Easter weekend.

Happy Easter people!

We have a table booked in the pub for 12:30, I’m sure there’ll be a bit of a buzz going on and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if we bump into someone we know :slightly_smiling_face:

In the meantime I’m going to bull up my boots as is fit for a Good Friday meal out. I’ve started working some black into the creases now that they are broken in before applying the oxblood polish with the brushes. Eventually a black rub will develop, think of a fresh conker fallen from a tree, a burnished two tone effect is the desired outcome :+1:

We’ve been given this by a family member, something to nibble on later…

Quality! Enjoy your day people! :hatching_chick:

Hello all and happy easter to everyone. We don’t have easter here. So i drove around with son. I drove to a nearby province and released fish into a large pond at a temple. It felt like giving life to animals that were about to be killed, giving them a chance to live longer. Just doing that made me feel truly happy.

Good morning and Happy Easter everyone…
Overcast and cool but the rain stayed away during my 5 mile jaunt this morning. Felt good after yesterdays effort so decided to do the same route but smelling the roses so to speak, just took it steady. Call it more observational rather than exercise…
We always have a nice piece of Salmon on a Friday @mart, didn’t really consider the religious connection, but now you mention it…Perhaps I’m a believer but haven’t come out of the closet yet…
:innocent:
For an old retiree, Bank holidays are not the time to go wandering to the coast or finding a place to eat… :009: Not when everyone will soon be back at work and the kids back to school…I’m a patient man…
:sunglasses:
Them boots look pristine @Chilliboot, I think with all the time I’ve spent pounding the streets my feet deserve something a bit more comfy…

Good to see you posting @Frankie1944

Those slippers look like taking comfort to a new level Foxy, deservedly so!
Yes I did indeed wear my boots to the pub…

I couldn’t help but notice this amusing little sign, heaven forbid I should have been tempted, anyway I left my dancing shoes at home which is probably just as well.
After three pints I fear it wouldn’t have ended well ! :open_mouth:

Oops! :slightly_frowning_face:

Good afternoon everyone and happy Easter.

Another cloudy, cold day, April seems to get colder and colder every year.
We don’t eat meat today, either @mart, being a Catholic country. I’ve actually always wondered why we don’t get a national holiday here, like you do in the UK. It’s a normal working day apart from schools which are already closed for the Easter break. Today everyone bakes traditional pies and desserts with rich egg fillings.
To honor the “no meat” day, I cooked spaghetti with a mixed seafood sauce followed by pan-fried cod fillets.

Happy “hot cross bun” eating!

Rain for most of the Easter holiday weekend. Daughter has filled my house with Lego, it’s in boxes in the hall & living room. The one she is building is in the kitchen, she has got her own place to build it with a small table & a chair from the living room. She is very happy. :grinning: :grinning:
