And who said forums aren’t all that they crack up to be when it comes to being educating? I had no idea. I can’t wait to spread that little tidbit around!
You look well outfitted for your adventure Bruce. I may have missed it but do you have a route planned?
Safe traveling.
That sounds painful. I hope you are taking it easy and that it doesn’t happen again.
That is quite an effort just to have a conversation starter at parties and get-togethers ! Pretty cool though, I have to say.
@LookingForward, I hope you can find something that gives you a little more balance. Good luck.
Hurricane Francine was grumpy but only a category one out of five. She is thankfully is now gone after wreaking some havoc where our friends live, so I am happy we got them out of there for a few days. Their son is in California, so he’s coming out to clean up the mess and take care of any resulting damage. Electricity is still out along the coast, which is one of the worst after-effects of storms. The resulting low pressure, soaring humidity, and still conditions leave everyone cleaning up in oppressive conditions. Thankfully, no one was hurt and pets are well.
We fared better here, far from the center, with minor flooding around the house, short power outages, palm fronds and oak branches strewn about. The winds knocked around the ginger and plumeria (frangipani) so the stifling heat was at least offset by the fragrant air. We did get clipped by a tornado in the night for a few seconds. I could see it radar and could hear it pass, but I never saw it.
The single most wished for thing after a hurricane? It’s not water; it’s not food; it’s a shower!
This is a shot near their house. Fortunately, most have wisely built in pilings for conditions just like this.
We plan to host our friends for a few more days and we are ready for a weekend of American football and downshifting.
I hope you have a calm and pleasant weekend!
