Good Morning Friday, 12th December 2025

Good morning on this cool, wet Friday.

The rain woke me up about 2am with a very loud downpour, when I read my new rain gauge at 9am there had been 12mm. Since then it has hardly stopped though the ground did desperately need the moisture.

Since getting my bin in (very quickly I have not left the house, my grandson has mainly been watching a movie on TV. I tried to persuade him to read a book (William or Biggles) but apparently books are boring. I offered to read to him but still boring, so TV it is

So I am the one reading - can’t even take the dog out. I hope it might clear up later but the thunder has been rumbling most of the morning.

BTW @swimfeeders there was an piece on the news about 3000 people taking up hospital beds who should be in aged care. It is partially propaganda as the state health ministers do battle with the federal health minister over hospital funding. The figure has increased by 25% to 3000 in just three months - hospitals are run by the states but mostly funded by the feds. As I mentioned Medicare has its problems.

Anyway that’s enough of that - enjoy your Friday.

Take care…

Morning all…

Just a quick one today, sat in a coffee shop whilst the wife’s car is being looked at. Supposed to be going to a market afterwards, but its raining out, so probably spend the morning sat here drinking coffee.

Have a good day all

Good Day Peeps… :039:
Very dark this morning but nice to see the temperature up to 9 degrees C. My back was still playing up and getting things moving after lying dormant for eight hours is a problem and it takes a mile or two to get loosened up, but sadly no jogging. I was lucky, and got back with just a few spots of rain, it’s chucking it down now.
I think some rest will be the order of the day, so perhaps some catch up work on the computer, or some recorded ā€˜Battle Bots’ to watch.
Still got some cards to deliver but they can wait until later when it’s stopped raining…

Good morning from the quartzite beaches of northern Florida!

Good effort with your grandson, @Bruce. I’m glad you have time with your grandson, though I know it’s disappointing having to compete with technology. Have you ever considered unplugging the modern and cable for a few days? It sounds like you have chosen well on the book. Two of the books with which I have had success hooking boys his age are Hatchet and Brian’s Winter by Gary Paulsen. Both are about a boy who has to figure out how to survive in the Canadian wilderness after a single-engine plane crash. Regardless, I hope you two enjoy each other’s company for a few days. It may not feel like it he is forming memories and having a good time.

That is a depressing story about the seniors languishing in hospitals. If the government is going to promise care, they need to give it. It’s downright dystopian.

Glad to hear you gentlemen are getting out an about. I am pressed with more domestic issues getting ready for a dinner party that a friend asked to have shifted to my house after her pregnant daughter was admitted to the ER. The good news is that all the guests are wonderful friends, so we are going to cut and paste together what has been a traditionally formal dinner into a hybrid potluck-style affair. It comes right before we are leaving for Kansas for the week. 'Tis the season :christmas_tree: :santa: :bride_with_veil: . We women sure know how to create chaos this time of year…ho, ho, ho !

It’s avian morning here; when I came back from my beach run (long and slow, @OldGreyFox), my male cardinal neighbor was smashing his beak repeatedly against the kitchen window again. Poor guy, I sure wish a female would show up to distract him from his war with his reflection. The heron napping on the dock nearby grew irritated, squawked his dinosaur squawk and took off for the marsh. We may have to have an intervention…

I hope the gray skies part and everyone has a nice day!

Hi

Late in the day, but such is life.

I have had an acute coronary event to deal with, complicated by the groin infection.

No great shakes,I have the meds to deal with the coronary event, I have unstable angina, sometimes a very strong attack. just a real nuisance.

Hospital has declared an emergency, so best avoided if at all possible.

A Covid or flu infection would not be good at the moment, neither would any other infection.

A home visit from a specialist nurse, I had done everything right with the heart meds.

She was concerned about my groin infection as my immune response is affected by my heart condition.

A very attractive, tall, slim, early 50’s lady with blonde hair and blue eyes and a lovely smile busy chatting away as she cleaned up my inner groin and bits, taking photos and sending them in to be assessed was weird to say the least.

The conversation was about the best way to do a gravel driveway and parking area in a front garden which is heavy clay.

She liked mine, but her hubby is a skinflint.

As I said, totally surreal.

It cleared up in the arvo so out we went - dog, child and I - The dog loved it, the child not so much. To be fair he did say he would have enjoyed it if he had his bike. I tried to tell him that walking was just like bike riding but lower down.

He wanted to play with the old Nintendo 64 but I couldn’t get it to work and he had none of his usual devices (I don’t know if he was banned) but he watched the Lego Movie 2 for about the 20th time.

Overall he was pretty good and we had a good time. After he had gone to bed I watched two episodes of Parenthood

I do like our system better where you can go to Service NSW and do it all face to face if there is a problem. My optician and doctor automatically send off my medical stuff to them every year, so far it has never been a problem
