Good morning to all, another warm and sunny day (at least until late arvo)
Have been watching a vet clinic being built just down the street from me, it is all prefabricated and arrives on the back of several trucks.
Once I got bored with that drove my car into the garden to make a tiny modification to my awning where the guy ropes attach, Instead of tying them on I have used a stainless clip so they can be left permanently in place and there is no chance of the rope being cut by the aluminium. Quite pleased with that.
Might hose the car down later to remove some of the red dust left over from my last trip.
I went down the street this morning to post a letter BUTā¦the box had gone!I thought the street looked a bit different as I was walking to where it used to be but couldnāt my finger on it.
Good morning everyone, weāve been having quite warm, sunny weather, Summer temperatures. Itās normal in October down here in the South. Mornings and evenings are cooler though and indoors it has already cooled down , so during the day, I end up changing clothes continuously, going from short-sleeves to jumpers and then back again to short-sleeved Driving me crazy. Perhaps our extremely hot Summer this year has helped our olive trees, it seems we may manage an olive harvest for some EVOO production, better not speak too soon though
@Psmith, until now in our country about a third of all postal boxes have already been removed and more and more are being taken away, just like the old phone boxes which have already been replaced by āDigitoā phones . Modern āSmartā post boxes are also being installed which I havenāt really read much about, donāt know how they work.
Good morning!
Clear, bright & sunny, but cold, with ice on the car
I awoke at 05-30 and couldnāt get back to sleep, so made a few cups of coffee & sat in the dark in my comfy chair & watched the sun come up
I had planned on driving to the supermarket first thing, but although I have de icer spray & a scraper Iāve put it off until later
I also want to do a few errands in town, including taking some clothes to a charity shop so Iāll do that first, when the bus pass becomes valid at 09-30
I have been feeling better during the past few days, though still not fully recovered, but Iāll do a few things at a civilised pace, or Iāll spend ages just sitting around
Morning all ā cold start to the day but sunshine promised for later.
Glad you are feeling better zuludog - hope you continue to improve.
Beast behaved herself last night, demanded cuddles and refused to go out this morning, will see if she has changed her mind later when the sun has warmed things up a bit.
Meeting with the usual miscreants went well yesterday ā lots of laughter and interesting conversation.
Todayās plans are housework and ironing ā gardener also due this afternoon.
Did you look to see if it was on the Australia Post App still?
I use in mainly to track my packages but it does guide you to Post Offices and post boxes but I donāt know how quickly it responds if they are removed. So far It has been accurate when I have used it in strange places.
The post box in my street is still there but it used to demand that you posted your mail by 6pm but a little while ago that was changed to noon
Been a busy week. I have a new computer - takes a while to press all the new buttons and some are at the back that were at the front like the camera. Much, much faster and much greater capacity.
Then we got a new dish washer. It took us about two hours to replace the old one and fit the new one. It has some nice features like an illuminated print on the floor when it is running.
We still have a post box not too far away but the postal service is terrible. Looks as if they are cutting down deliveries by not doing so on certain days. not surprising though with all the private companies in the area doing the same ,and quicker.
A lovely sunny Autumn day here. The dog walk was enjoyable this morning due to the sunshine, though I did wear my thick coat because the sunshine deceives into thinking it might be warm, and it isnāt!
We have a small post office and general store in the village but I wonder how long the post office part will last because whenever I go into the shop very few people seem to be using it - I buy postage stamps once in a blue moon but even that wonāt keep it going I fear. There is also a post box just down the road from me but I prefer to use the one next to the post office because Iām unsure how often the other one is emptied. At one time the emptying times were displayed on the front of the post box but the time displayed now is the one for the last post so I suppose they empty them less now than in the past. We do have a regular delivery but Iām unsure whether it is every day because I receive very little post these days - except the inevitable junk mail. When you discover how the āsmartā post boxes work @Rose2 do let us know - Iām intrigued by the idea!
Pleased to read that you are feeling better @zuludog.
I had my car cleaned on Monday at the local car wash place @Bruce then it got muddy again on Tuesday when I visited the garden centre in the rain - you just canāt win with these things!
I have some bulbs to plant today, once it warms up a bit - I think Iāve said before that I am a fair-weather gardener. There is also some ironing needs doing but whether that gets done today is debateable.
Hi and good, Margaret. We also have local shop about 15 minutes our house. It includes the Post Office. It also a cash machine. Sure, it is a convenience but it a bit expensiveā¦
Hellish cold this morning with lots of frost on the rooftops and in the sheltered spots down by the canal towpath. Could have done with doing some running this morning to keep warm but I pulled something in my groin the other day and am down to just fast walking. If it carries on like this Iāll have to start wearing bottoms instead of shortsā¦Brrrrrrrrrrrr.
Went to see the ear man yesterday and booked an appointment for next week for a hearing test. He stuck a camera in my ear yesterday and said that my ears were clear of wax and looked healthy, so it must be old age and 35 years of rock and roll and factory work that done itā¦
Good early afternoon - A frosty start but thatās all gone now. Iām trying really hard to pick up from whatever it is thatās making me bad but itās a struggle. Just go back from a walk down the shop where I saw our eldest sonās helper (he has difficulties with handing life one way of another). My voice sounded a bit like the godfatherās.
Back now and about to eat lunch. Iām off my food but eating is important, so here goes.
Have a good day
Edit: On a brighter note, Wheelchair repairman just called. At first he thought the car ramp was too steep but looked further. All the fault was that the front-right wheel suspension had become stiff. A squirt of silicone WD-40 sorted out the problem. A long way for him to come out to do that but the chair is brand new and I didnāt want to start diagnosing or squirting grease about.
