Good Morning/Afternoon - Wednesday 15th December

Hello everyone

Just back from a rather damp walk - it has rained during the night and all the trees were dripping! Went along the river banl and, apart from a few bleary eyed Mallard, nothing was moving

Pot of tea and a stack of toast are the next things on the schedule - then I will rearrange the dust and take the shark for a walk. Have friends coming over for coffee this afternoon.

The fluorescent tube has ‘gone’ in the kitchen - thought it was the little starter thingy, so gave it a new one - but, no, it is the tube. No idea where to look for a replacement one - do they sell them in B&Q? Anyway - that be top of tomorrows ‘to do’ list!

Stay safe

Morning everybody!

@SilverTabby pretty sure fluorescent tubes have been banned for a few months now.

Halogen and fluorescent light bulbs banned as new law comes into force (msn.com)

Its mild and dark here, pouting with rain too. About to make breakfast and think about heading to the vets to collect the cram they set aside for the dogs ear. Funny how they can diagnose, based on a photo, eh?

Anyway, have a lovely day everyone

Morning folks.

A stay at home day for me, keep the dog company, give her more attention, and do some tidying up, especially of some surfaces. I am hoping sis will still want to meet up at Dunelm or The Range tomorrow, so we can look for her Christmas gift from me. She will be at work today but I will text and ask her. So for today, no going out of the shopping nature.

BTW after the lovely sunny day reported above it is 7pm and absolutely belting down outside with thunder and lightning accompaniment. It probably won’t last too long.

It was expected and i put some geranium cuttings in the ground to take advantage (though this is perhaps too heavy)

Good morning everybody.

I’m meeting my friend Chris for lunch & a spot of shopping in the mill town of Belper.
It will be our last get together before Christmas because Chris is going to the funeral of her brother next Weds.

No other plans but am considering going to the chemist for the flu jab. If I don’t go today I’ll go on Friday afternoon.
I have more lunches tomorrow & Friday & don’t want to be driving with an achy arm!!

Have a good day all…

Morning all!

Looks like a good day for some golf!

Good exercise, but I wish my golf was good enough for me to get around the course without walking 20 miles more than anyone else.

Maybe it’s my aim that’s all wrong!

Have a Nice one!

Morning all, another dull but dry day. Well I made the little gingerbread tree decorations yesterday (for my granddaughter to give her teachers), and today I’ll be making an embroidered bag as a gift for my hairdresser. Later I’ll be picking my granddaughter up from after school club and taking her home where I’ll be cajoling her to write her Christmas cards!

In the meantime, Mr B is picking up her mum from work and taking her to a walk in vaccine centre - the trouble she’s had trying to get a booster appointment is downright shocking. She’s been ringing and ringing for weeks trying to get an early appointment, but has been told repeatedly that she could not have one earlier than 6 months after her 2nd jab. She’s argued with them, shouted down the phone, told them to check the latest rules that have been changed to 3 months, but no luck until last week when she finally got through to a different call centre - they told her that there are some call centres whose systems have not been updated. Absolutely appalling, I’m so angry :rage: So now she has to queue in the dark for God knows how long.

Hope you all have a good day, whatever you’re up to

Good morning from ‘out in the rural sticks’ to you all. :039:

Milder again and quite bright. Largely dry and mild is the forecast.
Maximum temperature 12ºC.

Christmas cards to write out, stamps to buy and then post them.
Hopefully to reach their destination in time.

Enjoy your day everybody, whatever you may be doing.

@Bathsheba It might be easier to do a booking online, I booked yesterday and was pleasantly surprised how easy it was. All that’s needed is a National Health Number and a postcode.

After booking an appointment for 06 January 2022 a relative mentioned another Boots chemists where they were doing boosters which is closer to home, checked them out so cancelled the original appointment made a new one at the other Boots chemists only to find in that time the earlier appointments had gone so rebooked at the other Boots chemists. Link below, just follow the instructions and choose where you wish to book etc., link below may help:

Edited to add: Don’t worry too much about the queuing system, if it’s anything like yesterday 4,514 people in the queue were booked in five minutes, then it was my turn. :grinning:

Good morning everyone, mild and dry here too so no complaints for mid December… :sunglasses:

We have visitors for lunch today so we’ll have to sweep up the kitchen and put down some fresh sawdust I guess, got to be seen to make the effort… :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Have a pleasant day folks

That’s what she originally did Baz, but the date they gave her was well into January, when her 6 month period would be up this week. When the interval changed to 3 months, she wanted to try to change it, but the trouble is, once you’ve made a booking online, you have to cancel it before the system will let you make another one, and obviously she was loath to do that! So that’s why she started ringing instead.

Oh I see, yes I wasn’t too sure about cancelling but did so with that result. I did enquire at a Boots chemists on Monday about how long ahead appointments were taking as I needed information from my GP first. I was informed 7-10 days but the earliest one I could get, at that same branch, was 06 January 2022, and eight months after my second jab.

All I achieved was an appointment earlier by about an hour-and-a-half! It seems there is rather a rush on to book now. Appointments, here anyway, are well into January 2022 but better later than never is how I see it.

Well my daughter finally managed to get an appointment locally for this coming Sunday, but she is getting a bit panicky, working as she does with children - and that seems to be the highest group at the moment in the Covid figures - so she wants to get it as quickly as possible, hence going to the walk in today. She won’t cancel Sunday’s appointment until and unless she actually gets the thing in her arm!!

Got to say I’m shocked at how long you’re having to wait @Baz46!

Good that your daughter has managed to get an appointment, especially working with children. My close family members all went to a local walk-in centre late last week, that was where I also intended to go. Unfortunately I had to get advice first from my GP about an existing health problem that might have been affected by the booster. I did that yesterday but then had a call from my daughter that the walk-in centre they had all used was no longer. I checked online to find they were doing walk-in for 1st and 2nd jabs only, no boosters!

No alternative but to take the earliest appointment at Boots chemists, so that’s what I am doing now. I have more or less isolated myself, other than food shopping once every three or four weeks, for almost two years now so that’s what I shall do until my appointment. Not good for me I know, after almost two years of this already I am sure about that, but better than contracting covid is how I see it.
 :grinning:

A happier day for me, this morning our daughter has just had her final Chemo treatment of twelve and had her line removed. She has a scan in 6 weeks time to find out if the treatment has been successful. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Gloomy weather but very mild here.

I have a very painful shoulder at the moment, don’t know what I’ve done to it but I’m hoping it’s not Tendonitis again - it lasted 15 months the last time!

Enjoy your day and stay safe folks……
