Gawd it was cold last night! I had to get up at 2am to get another doona off one of the other beds. It got down to 11° over night.
This cold snap crept in overnight and today have been wearing a jumper because it has only managed 18°C by 2pm. Don’t want to change to the winter doona yet because warmer weather is forecast for next week. At least it is not raining.
My daughter and son inlaw are down from Canberra bringing their 6 month old Labrador with them (in lieu of having children) still an overenthusiastic puppy but BIG and lovely. We are booked in for a meal at the club this evening - gawd I haven’t been for ages, really looking forward to it.
Finished painting the base of my mower for winter and sprayed the fence line with Glyphosate (my kind of gardening).
Start of our travels today up to Burton to pick up the youngest, then on to Manchester, we then have to take a covid test if all OK over night stay then fly out to Florida tomorrow. Enjoy.
A little rain in the night which the garden is thankful for, but now stopped and the sun is rising so looks like being a pleasant day, although a northerly breeze will no doubt take the edge off the warmth…
After our morning walk in the forest I’ll be baking a loaf but apart from that not much on my agenda, so maybe I’ll go find a weed or two that need removing, although in truth they are about the only things that are thriving this spring!
We had a lot of rain last night - but it is due to be sunny today - temp to reach 59f by midday - much too hot for me. Will make sure all my chores are done before then so I can hibernate! Due for an Amazon delivery - treated myself to a portable CD player.
Another beautiful weather day. Slightly overcast and hoping for rain.
Just ate some brown rice and quinoa and corn and swatched my color markers. So many of the same color with different colored caps. On the upside, I like the color that’s repeated.
Looking forward to talking with my favorite person on the phone again later today.
Been out with Gert before 6am this morning as it was promised to be hot so been out again at 9am as well in between washing bedding changed and on the line before 7am weather looks lovely as well.
Done a litter pick with the canal group as well now home and thinking reading the end of my book.
Yesterday myself and a few neighbours planted out “excess/split” our perennials and scattered some wildflower seeds in the green space at the bottom of our cul de sac we have taken charge as the council appear to just do nothing to it.
Just got back from the club (it’s just after 10pm) - had a few beers and a nice meal with daughter and SIL of 300gms of fillet steak, chips and salad. The steak was perfect, medium rare (unfortunately I had eaten a great chunk of it before I thought to take a pic).
I have to go to Canberra at the end of the month to look after the dog because they are off to Winton to watch some motor racing (bikes I presume), Canberra at this time of the year is not fun.
Seems I have some respite. NfH not in, and young family the other side of me have gone out to a wedding. Maybe they will all be out enough hours for me to enjoy the p&q.
Fillet steak is too lean for me @Bruce , give me sirloin or ribeye any day ahead of fillet, but good to hear you enjoyed your evening anyway, I may even have a beer myself later…
To be honest I actually prefer rump steak but it was a choice of a 250gm Rump steak or a 350gm Fillet so I went for the bigger option. My SIL took the Porterhouse steak which looked very nice too. We both like medium rare and the chef got it perfect.
Alas, gone are the days when a steak completely filled the plate.
On the bright side I was able to use my $25 Dine voucher from the NSW Government.
You’re quite right, the don’t look the best but the photo doesn’t do them justice the chips were actually crisp and delicious, in fact my daughter kept pinching them because they were so good.
