Went to see this sequel to the 2000 Gladiator. I have mixed feelings about this one, as the original was so good with Russell Crowe. Paul Mescal in the lead role was ok, but not top notch. The battle scenes were impressive, although lots of CGI was used. Denzel Washington’s role has been highly praised, but I thought it was a bit hammy to be honest.Connie Neilson, reprised her role from the first movie, and she was quite good, as was Pedro Pascal, as the Roman General. The problem was, you kept thinking how terrific the one made 25 years ago was, and this remake while passable, was not in the same league.
