Fortress Australia - A Pariah State?

Quite an interesting TV report on the problems non permanent residents are having as well as foreigners wanting to visit. Is Scotty from Marketing acting too slowly? Worth watching

At the moment only agricultural workers, students and backpackers with existing visas can get in.

Only fully vaccinated permanent residents can come and go at will

Its not called Prison Island for nothing.

Very wise, in my opinion!

@Bruce , You think you are hard done by Brucy ?
We hear your buddies in NZ are getting pissed off by ST Jacinda
at last??
A couple of them have been offered refuge by the Taliban we
hear, as they are presently stateless and unable to work ??
Donkeyman! :thinking::thinking:

Australia has never been called ā€œPrison Islandā€ by anyone, you are thinking of Pulu Beras in the Cocos Keeling Islands. Apart from anything else Australia is a continent and consists of over 8000 islands.

Hope that helps.

Thatā€™s what we call it.

Or used to,its now called Plague Island.

Who is ā€œweā€? You and your mate down the pub, I suppose. :roll_eyes:

@Bruce , Isnā€™t that called ā€˜AUSTRALASIAā€™ Brucy ??
Australia is that bit of desert surrounded by a circle hippies
ainā€™t it ??

No, definitely not Assman, your knowledge of geography, or rather the total lack of it, has let you down again.

Australasia is a region which includes New Zealand, Australia, Papua New Guinea and a heap of Pacific Islands, they are sovereign states. Did you also forget that Tasmania is an island and an Australian state?

Our biggest problem is getting Pacific Island seasonal workers. Itā€™s the reason weā€™ve got the lowest unemployment rate ever as hospitality, tourism and other jobs that have declined take up horticulture, construction etc. After all we have had 53 deaths due to Covid thanks to Jacindaā€™s policy of taking advice from experts rather than business tycoons.

Same problem here too. They have even offered to refund visa fees if backpackers arrive within the next few weeks. That is a quite a good deal as the visa is about $600

Still waiting for exemption visa to arrive

Thatā€™s the problem the woman in the video has, she keeps getting knocked back.

@Bruce , Praps you lot should get your own arses out out of yer
ammocks and do it yerselfs then ??
Donkeyman! :+1::grin::+1:

Just got the exemption through :slight_smile:
