Food shopping

All Members.

When you go food shopping, do you stick at buying the same products,…or do you try different products, each time you shop?

I like buying different products to try, bought these crisps today and these Starbucks lattes, yum!!..

Hi

I do not like online ordering and deliveries.

Unfortunately I am frequently unable to drive due to medical restrictions.

I get my helpers to take me when I am strong enough.

I went out with Paula today, enjoyed it and got a whole load of reduced items.

Morrisons had ready cooked chickens reduced to £2.48, that is me set up for the next 3 days.

Cob loafs were 50p and Aunt Bessies Yorkies 10 for £1.

All good fun.

I was pleased to read, that you were strong enough to go out with your carer today,SF, lucky you getting all of those bargains…I hope you continue to get stronger!,:+1:

I b.u.m.p this topic up, as I’m still interested to learn, if any of you buy different products to try, each time you go shopping?

It can be anything from food to toiletries.

I changed from my usual pick up of the same pickled onions, to Garners pickled onions a while back,why didn’t I change before, guess I was stuck in the same buying habits.

I won’t be buying those crisps again…burnt the roof of my mouth,:tired_face:

i buy my usual loaf and a few oxos to dip it in, sometimes i go overboard and buy boveril, wish i could afford other stuff

Never said a thing :innocent:

I enjoy online delivery shopping, its so convenient - especially now I have to take buses into town. I can’t be hauling a weeks worth of shopping up the hill, so I just order it in. However, when I’m in town I do top up on fresh things, like fruit & veggies,

we have a weekly home delivery, but go to a local butcher for meat, and to a smoke house (about 45min drive) for a few extras (to put on my crusts of course)

Ah…but do you ever drink a different whisky?

No wonder you can only afford a loaf and oxo , all that wickey you buy,:rofl::joy:

i don’t drink whiskey, money better spent on oxos

I don’t drink Lattes either,:wink::joy:

What I like about online shopping is that you can order all the boring stuff the same every time and not have to cart it around yourself

And then you can enjoy having a little wander around interesting different shops, the butchers, farmers market, bargain stores, farm shops, garden centres, Asian stores, green grocers, etc picking up different and unusual bits and pieces as you see them

What’s the most unusual product you have bought to try?

My last “experiment” from a stall in Bristol was Bubble Tea, not keen, like drinking frog spawn!

Bought some vegan cheese to test before I try it out on my mate. It was OK but there’s no substitute for real cheese

And a black pudding scotch egg from a local chap who has set up a business making and selling unusual scotch eggs in the Farmers Markets They are really yum

We tend to buy the same food as my husband won’t try anything different, I only buy Chicken or Fish normally, sometimes I buy something different but only I eat it.

We tend to stick to the same staple foods however we like to try different things. Having said this, my man could practically take a bite right off of a cow whereas I’m not that big a meat eater. I eat more of a Mediterranean style - lots of vegetables, a few grains, and a bit of dairy and meat.

We experiment quite a bit with our air fryer and insta - pot. The air fryer makes the nicest homemade French fries ever and the insta pot is great for cooking anything from scratch even if the meat is frozen. With all dishes, the meat just falls off the bone.

My husband likes to experiment with bigger things. For instance he wants to cook a duck, a turkey and something else all together at once. I forget what it’s called but he seems more stuck on the word than the food itself. Lol!

Frog spawn. Yep! :+1::rofl:

Ooo, yeah. There’s nothing like tapioca pudding with a dollop of strawberry jam on top.
