My family don’t use euphemisms for death in conversation, so “dead” and “died” are used without a second thought. Death is what it is, and being twee about it is just silly to us. There are no family gravestones, either - the dead are cremated and the ashes disposed of by the crematorium. We usually don’t remember when people died, exactly, once a few years have gone by. We sometimes reminisce fondly (sometimes NOT fondly, lol) about the dead, but the date of death, or it’s anniversary, holds no special significance for us.
