It was a personal experience by Mrs Fox and me Ripple. Despite whether you believe anyone or not about the chances of catching Covid from someone who has recently had the vaccine, it would seem that it was the only time Mrs Fox and myself could possibly have caught covid off our friends who had been vaccinated earlier that day.

Another personal experience relating to the flu jab was the reason why I would never have the flu jab in the future…

I started a new job in 1972. In order to reduce the number of sick days by the workers the management paid for all the staff to be given the flu jab in October that year.

Within one week I developed the worst bout of flu I had ever experienced before or since.
I have only ever had two bouts of flu in my life, and that was by far the worst.

In 2020, my wife had symptoms, so, I had to take her to the local county cricket ground for testing, in the queue I shut all the windows in the suv we had at the time becauise, there were so many possible infection sources locally, a couple of days later my wife got the positive result, and I closed all the windows in the suv, what the heck :icon_wink:

We all react differently to viruses, many people caught Covid without even knowing it, no symptoms at all but being able to infect others who on the contrary probably went on to develop serious symptoms.

With flu jabs, most people don’t have any adverse reactions at all, a small percentage develop mild feverish symptoms which occur not later than 48 hours after being vaccinated. A slight increase in body temperature is normal after being administered the vaccine which contains the non-active viral strain, but this does not happen to everyone.

For both seasonal flu or Covid, you become immune after about two weeks from being vaccinated (at least 10 days), so your friends Foxy could have infected you easily. They probably already had Covid when they had the vaccine and didn’t know it.

I never knew how I caught Covid, way back in 2023, at the beginning of October. I had a very high fever and a slight sore throat but ended up in hospital because I fainted at home and fell down the stairs. I was very weak, couldn’t stand up, my legs were like jelly. I even fell down in front of the casualty entrance while holding on to my son who was trying to drag me along, I just couldn’t walk. I sat on the ground in front of many bewildered on-lookers, moaning and groaning that I could not get up anymore! In the end, I was taken inside with a stretcher.
In those days they were still Covid testing everyone entering hospital premises and that’s how I discovered it was Covid. My elecrolyte situation was a mess, dehydration, due to the virus, so I was given intravenous drip-feeding, for two days. :unamused: I was shocked, how did I get Covid? My only recent close contacts were my son and daughter and parents, all tested negative!

Thanks Foxy.
I didn’t bother with any more Covid jabs after I caught the virus, I’ve only been getting the flu jab annually.
I had been vaccinated previously for Covid (including 2nd and 3rd boosters) but it was way back in 2021, when they first became available. The virus was still very strong then but gradually started weakening and becoming more like a normal influenza.

You were a young fox cub back in 1972 and would have received a live flu vaccine, that wouldn’t be the case now .

This is an obvious one: it takes up to two weeks for any vaccine to become effective. You contracted the flu virus within one week. Which means you came in contact with someone or something that had the virus on it possibly even a week before you had the shot.
Ever thought about it???

Good for you, Didi! I’ve had the flu vaccines for over a decade, and BTW, I’ve never had a case of the flu! Something tells me they work, even as we age and our immune system changes.
