Floydy's All-Time Top 1000 Favourite Albums

No.817: “Odessey And Oracle” by The Zombies (1968)

That’s a beauty.:023:

Lol! Touche, Art. I guess I deserved that :079:

Thanks mate. At least the USA thought so at the time when we were dragging our heels on The Zombies’ talent.

No. I never saw them just heard them all day long.

No.812: “Crosseyed Heart” by Keith Richards (2015)

A couple of years ago Keith Richard returned to his roots with this awesome solo record. With blues goodies old and new and full of his trademark guitar licks, this album is a breath of fresh air. It’s easily better then the pedestrian routine the Stones have been taking with their own albums for the past 35 years anyway.
Here’s a question and answer session from Keith:

No.811: “Live At Last” by The Matt Minglewood Band (2003)

A new name to me when I first heard this album a couple of years ago, it seems Minglewood has been on the go for decades. This slice of guitar blues heaven features the late blind slide guitar virtuoso Jeff Healey on some tracks.

No.810: “Larry Miller” by Larry Miller (2016)

Sticking with the blues, this is a young maestro called Larry Miller. Again, I’ve only just discovered this amazing talent whose style reminds me of Stevie Ray Vaughan or even Rory Gallagher with his youthfulness and style. Are you ready for a fantastic 18-minute blues workout?..too right you are!

No.809: “Parachutes” by Coldplay (2000)
The world-beating band’s debut album. I’m sure you’ve heard enough of them by now…?

No.808: “Early 21st Century Blues” by Cowboy Junkies (2005)

The Cowboy Junkies are a Canadian alternative country band who feature members of the Timmins family, plus a couple of others. This album features their own very sedate and relaxed interpretations of some classic songs such as John Lennon’s ‘I Don’t Want To Be A Solider’ and Richie havens’ ‘Handouts In The Rain’.
Here’s their complete performance from the Newport Festival in 2008:

No.807: “13” by Black Sabbath (2013)

After a lengthy hiatus, Black Sabbath reformed to make what was to be their final album, the typically-bombastic “13”. Ozzy, Iommi and Butler didn’t disappoint either as this is a tremendous offering full of typically doom-laden tracks such as this one, ‘God Is Dead’:

No.806: “Indiscreet” by Sparks (1975)

The ever-interesting but severely underrated duo released this mid-70’s album with a theme on the English music hall. Russel Mael’s singing took on a particularly Noel Coward charm and brother Ron’s keyboards joined in with the frivolities of the whole affair.

No.805: “High Hopes” by Bruce Springsteen (2014)

A covers album from The Boss with a vary heavy feel courtesy of his enlisting of Tom Morello from Rage Against The Machine. The chemistry definitely worked as this live rendition of one of his earlier songs beefed up shows:

One hour later and a number of selections placed onto the forum and I think I’ll leave it there for today. Please add any comments if you desire.

Tomorrow I’ll be submitting four albums to complete the list up to the 800 mark.

Never got into Sabbath but ZEP Purple and Heep filled the void nicely between psychedelia and progrock.

I’m the same with Sabbath, Nom. I find a lot of their stuff very gloomy and depressing, but when they rock out a bit I can really get into them.

Nom, PSmith, Ffosse, Longdogs etc:
I may be leaving the forum by the end of today so do you want the rest of the list posting or are you not that bothered?
Please let me know thanks.

Just take a break and post again when your ready Floydy.

We shall see mate. Pending.

You must do what’s best for you Floydy.
