Film - the most recent you have seen?

Mary Poppins quite enjoyed it too

The Hundred Foot Journey, if you liked The Best Exotic Marigold hotel this may appeal. Helen Mirren stars.

Let Him Have It - it’s about Derek Bentley, the teenager hanged for the murder of a policeman and Christopher Craig, who actually did the shooting.

My friend & I watched 9 last night. Weird film, but enjoyable. Tim Burton was involved in the making of it so it was bound to be weird. It’s about a post apocalyptic world where all humans are gone & only sock people are left. I had never seen it advertised & I found the DVD at a Toy fair.

Crimson Peak

Saw it today and I still feel unsettled.
Had it been on the TV screen, then it def would not have had so much impact, but on the big screen … hmmmmm … disturbing.

As a cynical/analytical person who stands back and views from afar, I was surprised that I felt so affected by certain scenes and the underlying subtext.

Maybe some of it is to do with my current state of mind, but … dunno.

A film I would not want to see at the cinema alone.
Great costumes, fab props and photography.

We went to see the new James Bond film last night.

Absolutely F.A.N.T.A.S.T.I.C…
I have always been a fan of the Bond films, but thought that Daniel Craig had sort of complicated things with his earlier films. This one though is just outstanding.

I’ll give it six stars out of five.

Wow

Might go to see it next week

Sean Connery (in his early Bond films) was the only Bond I enjoyed, so watch out for my appraisal.

Bruv said the same, said it was even better than Skyfall which I adored. Will go next week.
Just back from Suffragette…brilliant. And shocking. And all true.

SPECTRE

Daniel Craig as James Bond

Not really bothered with James Bond films since the early days of Sean Connery.

The reviews I heard on the radio for this one had not been too good so I was expecting a load of rubbish.
Also, I was worried that it was quite long and I might be bored.

However … the opening scene (before the titles) was a cracking start and thoroughly enjoyable, even if was slightly ā€˜hammy’ and his suit was far too tight ! … some of us pick up on these things

Goodness knows what it was about but never mind, it whizzed along very nicely and we all enjoyed it.
A bit of Bond nonsense and I did remember that there had been a white Persian cat in a previous Bond film.

Had my mind not been occupied with ā€˜life’ I would very likely be able to enthuse more.

Dunno if it would work so well on a TV screen

Agree, opening sequence brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.
Well…I was ready to go home after that, quite enough for me
But on it went, and on…too much really.
Yes his suit was too small
And one bit I’d been warned about so I didn’t see what happened as I was told it was quite unnecessarily disgusting. Why do they have to do that?

It was good, but to be honest I preferred Skyfall, I absolutely adored Skyfall.

Brilliant film - one of Tim Burton’s best.

Not seen Skyfall and didn’t notice anything disgusting

Neither did I as I was looking down at my hands!!
And I glanced sideways and lordruthio was wincing and looking a bit green.
Clue…SPOILER ALERT LOOK AWAY NOW!

.…it was when they were all sitting round the board table and one of them didn’t make it home for tea

Ahhhh … was it to do with eyes ?

I had to look away then

Dammit … had put it out of my mind … thanks

Bloody hell is that what it was???
No wonder my sister in law warned me!! She knows my weakness!

In my Mum’s family, eyes were always a big eeeeeeeek ! so I have always been sensitive.

Didn’t even dare go to an optician until a few years ago !

Big eeeek with me, always have been, will forever be grateful to my sister in law for warning me!
But hell, it was only a 12A, what’s wrong with film makers?
It WAS disgusting and totally unnecessary and I didn’t even see it!!

I watched ā€œEx Machinaā€ yesterday on Sky premiere - it’s a British science fiction movie where a young man (Domnhall Gleeson) goes to the isolated mansion, in the mountains, of a scientist developing a lifelike robot, in order to test its artificial intelligence. I found it a little reminiscent of ā€œHumansā€ that appeared on Channel 4 this year. Quite enjoyable.

I agree & it certainly was different. Did you see it in a cinema?
