Hi. Looking for reliable advice. I’m 57 female, and 4 months into a body recomposition program. I lift 4 times a week, do HIIT twice a week and walk 5km 2 to 3 times a week. I’m on 1800 calories a day, so in deficit. My body is shaping up well but the fat around my middle just refuses to budge. Getting really frustrated now. I know it’s age related, but does anyone have any tips?
Regular swimming can be helpful for the tummy & abs area. Walking is a good workout but doesn’t do much at all for that tummy area.
I’m not an expert on diet, fitness etc, I only know what I’ve read, and seen on YT Videos, but over the past 18 months or so my weight has gone down from about 95kg to about 82kg; my target is to get under 80kg, and yes, that last bit seems to be taking a long time, but I hope to achieve this by the end of summer
You can’t target a specific area for fat loss, you just have to reduce your fat/weight overall and your shape/weight/fat loss changes, so your shape improves/changes and particular areas don’t become too obvious
However you can tone up the muscles in particular areas, and I think that for your waist/tummy you should concentrate on sit ups, bending from the waist, and so on
And if you’re trying to lose fat you could reduce your calorie intake slightly, say down to 1400
Of course, it’s a lot easier to say than to do!
