False teeth and dental health

Yeh, I think I’ll ask for a special set of fangs so I can scare the kids!

Yes I remember that Impression stuff Mollie  Very Gag making. Its horrible stuff. I thought it was the worst part of getting dentures  The plate I had was Metal though & i’m sure it would have been too big for Shergar

Yes Mollie darlin’ - filed down to a point and coloured green!!!:lol::lol:

You’re right there Lynn, it really did make me gag and he told me not to swallow and keep breathing. Keep breathing? I wanted to throw up!

Not green fangs ta. Nice sparkly white ones.

Yes Mollie darlin’ - as I’ve said previously, the moment you get your new gnashers, you’ll be dazzling us all with your broad grin.

When I was younger I had a reccuring dream of my teeth cracking and falling out, apparently this was caused by a subconscious fear of growing old.

Nowadays my teeth are disintegrating and falling out, pity cos they were my best feature

Strange you mention dreams Robert, my grandfather told me when I was very young that when Elephants got old their teeth would fall out and they would slowly starve to death, I used to have nightmares dreading old age and starvation.
Why dont the have dentures for Elephants anyway?.

I suppose in old age, elephants might be known as GUMBO rather than JUMBO

groan groan

There’s another thing about having teeth replaced…the colour, nobody wants those Persil whiter than white teeth all lined up in a perfect straight row they look too artificial, especially if you are over 50, once you get the size right (No Shergar sizes):-D., then you want to get the natural shade for your age group, tricky business I would imagine getting it just right.

OUr dentist is the grandson of the founder of our dental surgery & I’ve been with the grandson for 29 years. I inherited him from my wife’s family who also have been clients for 3 generations. Is this unique?

Robert: It has always been my worst fear as well Robert and, if you look at the photo of myself that I put on very early in this thread, you may understand why this is such a trauma for me, as my teeth were my best feature as well.

Jem: You are absolutely right about a perfect set of teeth at our age, and I sometimes wonder when watching older actors on TV if their teeth are their own or not. My bottom teeth are still straight and reasonably white, so I’m sure my dentist will match the new top for the old bottom ones. However, having said that, I guess the bottom ones will have to be removed at some point, even though they’re anchored in well and not loose, nor deteriorating.

It’s just bad luck. :frowning:

Mollie darlin’ you need luminous white ones, bright enough that they’ll glow in the dark.:lol::lol::lol:

I’m glad you find this funny, but I don’t. It’s one of the most traumatic experiences I’ve ever had to go through in my life.

Mollie darlin’ - I’m not doing this to laugh at you, but by contributing a little levity into the subject I’m trying to ‘lighten’ the subject and hope that you too will laugh or at least grin.

I think Uncle Joe’s intention was innocent. Having impressions is unpleasant but they only take a few minutes don’t hurt just make you heave. I can only say if that was the most traumatic experience you’ve had what a charmed life you lead.

Sorry, I know. I’m just very self conscious about this, so I apologise.

Anyway, I’ve been to the dentist again today to have two more teeth extracted. I had a huge abscess behind one of them which the dentist had to drain, but because of it I’ve had an enormous amount of pain for the last couple of nights and haven’t slept.

It is not a nice experience, but I’m slowly getting through it, and I do apologise if I’m grumpy. I don’t mean to be.

Mollie darlin’ tooth ache is one of the most uncomfortable pains anyone can experience, so there is no need to apologise - I at least understand. However, now that abscess has been drained, as the pain of it subsides you’ll begin to feel a lot better. Just think ahead a little until the day you can wear your shiny new gnashers and dazzle us al with your smile and laughter.

it will be worth it in the end mollie

Oh Mollie that must have been horrible :frowning:
Hopefully you should be feeling more comfortable soon.

Is that the lot now, have you finished with extractions…

That must have been really painful for you, Mollie so I hope you’ll feel better soon.

I had toothache for a few days this week but it couldn’t have been anywhere near as painful as having an abscess in the tooth as well… I sympathise with you.

I feel sure that when all these uncomfortable parts of dentistry are completed, you will feel much, much better.
