False teeth and dental health

Mesco, I agree with what Mollie has said here, your harsh comments are aimed at the wrong person. Mollie has always been compassionate towards people, (including myself) who have lost pets. Like she says she also lost a cat herself recently and was devestated.

Come on people  we are all friends here, let’s remember that please .

I will certainly find the post.

I’m honestly not being nasty because I’ve gone through the trauma of losing so many of mine, but this is not what the thread was about.

And I DO BLOODY DARE.

You say you feel truly sad because the worst fear they have is loosing a pet. That is patronising to say the very least.
And then you go on to say that they should be prepared for the death of a beloved pet. An uncaring, unfeeling comment. Although we all know that our pets may die, nothing in the world can prepare you for the grief that follows, so of course it’s a very real fear.
And then you presume to tell people that it’s not what the thread was about. The thread was about fear and I can imagine no worse fear than the thought of loosing a pet.

Do I dare? I most certainly do.

This thread about having teeth out is getting longer than War and Peace. A neighbour of mine has had her’s out and in while this thread is still faffing on about a few teeth. Isn’t most people afraid of the dentist? I just grit my teeth “sorry” about the pun, and go get it done without telling the world and his dog.

I’m also frightened by a very bad experience from years ago.

I used to hate the Dentist, when I was in my 20s I had a horrible Dentist and he hurt me every time I went to see him. In the end I was so scared of him I just stopped going. I lasted 17 Years and then I got Toothache, I went or I should say was Driven by Pain to see a Dentist. My Friend told me hers was excellent so I went there. He was so kind as he knew I was terrified. I needed a lot done and over the Weeks he sorted me out, I’ve been seeing Mr San ever since. I even come down from Thurso to Perth every 6 Months for my Checkups and any Treatment.
Tomorrow I go to him for those 3 Back Teeth to come out, am a bit Nervous again as I know I’ll feel awful afterwards.
Chin up Mollie, we’re all different, what’s just a Breeze to some, is a Blooming Nightmare to others. You’ve nothing to feel Bad about at all.

I’m off to the dentist this Friday. Had an extraction a few weeks ago. Another tooth is playing up. Hoping it won’t have to come out. I realize having healthy teeth and gums enables you to enjoy eating. I guess it’s all part of the aging process.

How did your appointment on the 18th go Molly ,not noticed you online as much as usual ,hope you`re ok .

Thanks for asking lass, and yes I’m okay. I had another appointment yesterday and more teeth extracted and, the reason why this is taking so long is because my dentist has refused to remove them all at once because it’s a dangerous thing to do with my condition and is apparently bad practice. Plus the fact he won’t allow anyone to go totally without teeth as it would be too stressful for them, unless they say it’s alright.

I repeat yet again, I am NOT afraid of going to the dentist and I’m very happy that some people can experience this without qualms.

Roxy, thanks for your “positive” post. My dentist reckons it will take at least 12 months to complete this procedure as he considers it a bad thing to do to have all teeth out at once.

Gabi, this isn’t just a matter of a couple of teeth so, if you bothered to read from the beginning, you’d understand.

This forum is about sharing things with others and, because I’ve never had this experience before, I needed a bit of understanding from folk who have, as have others who need to share their medical worries with others. At age 62 I’ve done darned well never to have had a tooth extracted since I was a child so yes, this is huge for me.

Anyhow, I don’t have to defend myself to anyone so, for those still interested I’ll continue for anyone who may find themselves in this situation and may need information in the future, and those that aren’t, please refrain from replying as your comments are negative. You don’t have to read if you’re not interested.

So, I don’t have to go again now until September, when an impression will be taken once the gums have healed. After that, the remaining top teeth will be extracted step by step until just the front two remain. When those are extracted, a top set will be ready for me so I will leave the dentistry with top teeth. He’s leaving the bottom ones for the time being as they’re not as desperate, so a time will come when the bottom teeth will go through the same procedure.

Here endeth for the time being “War and Peace.”

So Mollie darlin’ come late September/early October you will be able to dazzle us us with your new ‘pearly whites’.:lol::lol:

Keep smiling:lol:

How are you Mollie?, I thought you ran off with a sailor.
I’m delighted you are on track in the dental stakes and taking it gradually, it is a big deal for any woman to go through and I realise that, it’s good to see you taking it with your sense of humour intact. When my poor woman had it done, they yanked ‘em all out there and then, like stripping buttons off an old army jacket, but I looked after her well and she was as right as rain in no time.
Don’t worry, before Christmas you’ll be smiling like a Cheshire cat, no stoppin’ you.

Don’t go cracking nuts with your new teeth though Mollie!

:lol::lol::lol:

Pleased to hear its all going to plan for you. Bet you cant wait for it all to be over

Pleased all is going well for you Mollie - won’t be too long before its all over and you can flash that smile

Hi folks. I’ve only just returned to this topic for good reason.

Jem, nope, I didn’t run off with a sailor. It was the milkman!

My mum had all of hers yanked out all at once back in the 50s, but this was something I just could not do, as has been explained a bit earlier.

My next appointment is on Wednesday 5 September, which I’m dreading on the one hand, but looking forward to on the other, although I know that makes no sense at all, but it does to me.

Eating has got much worse for me now as they have degenerated swiftly. I can no longer eat properly, and even speaking is difficult as my teeth clash together. I can’t explain that properly, but it is a bit of a nightmare right now.

Jem, I hope you’re right when you say by Christmas I’ll be grinning like a Cheshire cat. I love to laugh and smile openly, but I haven’t been able to do that in the longest time, except in the seclusion of my own home.

Mollie darlin’ once your treatment is completed, you’ll be blinding us all when you flash your new ‘teds’ (Edward Heath = teeth)in the biggest grin and laugh.

Hi everyone.

Just thought I’d nip back to let you know about my dentist appointment today, or rather yesterday.

Well, in truth, it was horrid. Gareth took an impression of my top teeth, starting off with a plastic plate which would have been better suited to Shergar, but he found one that fitted.

Seriously though, it was awful but, once that was over with, he took an impression of the bottom teeth which was easier to deal with.

At the end of the month a couple more teeth will be extracted, then I’m on my way to a new set of top teeth. The plate he inserted was filled with a nasty blue gunk which felt like cold jelly and it made me heave. Glad that’s over with.

Woooo Hooooo, by Halloween Mollie darlin’ your new set of gnashers will be able to dazzle the whole neighbourhood.
