Yeah they are pretty dull, and i’m so pleased i wasn’t born a royal. At least i have the freedom to go wherever i want, do whatever i want, say whatever i want (within reason of course) and not have my movements restricted as much as they do.
So i reckon i’m lucky in so many ways!
The royals don’t touch my life at all, but they are part of the heritage of this country.

Yes I thought the exciting news was Harry and Meghan coming back.
Much more exciting than boring old baldy Wills and clingy Cath.
Rumour has it that since the king sent the letter about H&M being common oiks like the rest of us (although, unlike most of us since we’ve had to work for our livings), the Duchess of Sussex wishes to vacate these shores presto pronto.

Chatting to a friend who comes from.a very wealthy family and admits they were privileged growing up . He was privately educated at a posh boarding school from a young age . He told me they were constantly told NOT to talk to or mix with state school kids , because these state school kids were less than . It was instilled into him and his classmates they were born better and higher and therefore entitled to be above in every way to the low life everyday people . He was caned once because he was seen talking to state school kids outside his boarding school .
So it was /may still be part of the education of the privileged that we working class people are beneath them in every way . My friend went on to have an amazing life and did very well for himself but he never considered himself of higher being because he came from wealth and privilege .

I always get the impression that most politicians are of the same opinion Susan, and also people with high education. Probably not the best people to run the country but there are exceptions though.

That’s a somewhat sweeping statement Foxy. I was afforded a good education that I used to my advantage and climbed high through sheer effort and application to gain my masters, but I would lump myself in with politicians.

I did say there were some exceptions LongDriver, and it’s those who prove the rule.
It depends how you use that good education to interact with your fellow man/woman.

We’re kinda back to the question of what “education” means. One can have a load of facts in one’s head and be able to speak, eg, Latin, fluently. But that’s not proof of being an “educated” person.
Similarly, one might have absolutely jack pooh of “classical” knowledge and yet be highly intelligent in terms of processing information.
Going to a posh school isn’t a sign of anything, other than having affluent parents.

That’s true Dex, but mention Oxbridge or Eton and everyone assumes the person is highly educated. If I were to write a paper on energy no bugger would read it even if it was true…
Get someone from Oxford to write the same paper and people would read it…
The main thing they learn is how to be condescending and smug.
