Even basic holidays are becoming expensive

1 week in Mandurah would set me back $1831 - $261.50 a night.
Might sound not so expensive on the world stage but I am never prepared to spend more than $160 - $180 a night for what is basically a bed.
A lot of these places only offer basic free to air tv (which is the pits), no cooking facilities, kettle and tea coffee supplied.
Mandurah’s poorer cousin Rockingham can be had for $1230 - $176 a night for 1 week.
I think I will stay where I am and look forward to my 3-week recce in Melbourne mid April.

Sue and I are wondering where to go for a holiday this year. So i came up with this brilliant plan,The idea was to pin a world map on a wall and throw a dart at it. Where the dart landed is where we will go for a holiday. So up went the map and Sue said she wanted to throw the dart, OK I said and she threw the dart. It will be the first time I have spent a holiday behind the fridge

That is funny, :grinning:
When I decided to leave Tasmania in 1988, I bought a map of Western Australia (I was going to go to Western Australia no matter what)
Placed it on the floor in front of me and with eyes closed, I spun it around for 30 seconds.
Then, with eyes still closed, I put my finger down on the map.
Opening my eyes showed my finger was on a place called Albany. For whatever reason I did not like the name and looked around that general area.
To the east was a place called Esperance. That sound just right to me.
Within 3 months I had packed up, sold my home and was living in Esperance.

Not quite 2,500km, more like 3800km, at least 4-5 days. Driving a maximum of 10 hours a day.

Seems silly to me being so far apart. Could thay not have built closer together?
Or possibly buy a faster car? :017: Simples
If we had to drive that distance we would end up in on of the seas around us
Just think of upping your score in the number of Kangaroos you could hit

I have never hit a Kangaroo.
A Kangaroo hit me, I knew there were Kangaroos in the area, so I was driving very slowly, no more than 15kmh, I saw the Kangaroo on the edge of the road, as I slowly almost passed it, the dash thing jumped right into the side of my car. :kangaroo:
Not injured though, jumped away and I went on my merry way. :slightly_smiling_face:

This is going to shock you all ,…
I hope you’re sitting down.

I haven’t been on holiday since I was 12 years old … just after I left infant school and went to the local Comprehensive.

Never bothered me and even if someone offered me one I would have no idea where I would want to go.
Never had a passport either.
