There are now around 850,000 fully electric cars and 530,000 plug-in hybrids on Britain’s roads, according to ZapMap.
Drivers can make use of just under 30,000 charging locations with 48,450 points between them.
The availability of points has risen dramatically in recent years, with a 42% increase in the past year alone.
No doubt the government will say that no-one could have foreseen the requirement for charging points …
