Energy price cap: Charities fear double hit for pensioners

Meanwhile they are making hundreds of millions in profit, with oil firms making billions.

Starmer is a disgrace for doing nothing about the greed !!

Charities are warning that pensioners may be “going to bed in hats and coats” this winter as energy prices rise and financial support is withdrawn.

Organisations including Independent Age have said that some older people would be cut off from a vital source of income when winter fuel payments are means-tested this time around.

It will come as domestic gas and electricity prices rise for 27 million households in Scotland, Wales and England in October.

The government said it was forced into the cut and is urging everyone eligible to claim the benefits to which they are entitled.

Prices going up

For a household with typical gas and electricity consumption, and paying by direct debit, an annual bill will rise to £1,717 from October, an increase of £149 compared with now.

Very forward thinking there …oh yes, I know, we’ll hit our core voters. Wow, you couldn’t make that one up; well done Starmer & Co :+1: Also while we are at it, let’s ensure the pensioners freeze to death …:face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

I stated on here prior to the election that Starmer would come for pensioners.
Those of you who get your news only from legacy media told me this was scaremongering.

One day you will all understand that legacy media manipulation is done by way of fact omission .

Your taxes will rise probably more than the £2000 Rishi suggested (which all the usual legacy media said was a lie)

Well, fiscal competence was central to the manifesto!!!

I had Starmer well sussed long before he was elected Labour’s leader and it was obvious to me, he would develop into fully formed haemorrhoids.

Yep, I kept pointing out how he broke every leadership election pledge, yet the wise liberals kept yapping on about the Toriesbeing liars.

I predicted the NHS will get worse not better, and I’m already seeing signs of this.

What became of Starmers £4/500 cut to energy bills? They are rising by £150 per household.

At least the old Labour lot left a note saying there was no money left :icon_wink:

I have not used the NHS, apart from my GP for the essential referrals, since long before the pandemic and that pandemic proved my decisions were always wise.
I will add that my GP does seem to be very good as far as the NHS is concerned, but I refuse to join every increasing waiting lists.
Actually, I lie because I do attend NHS retinopathy screening simply because the tenacious staff on that team won’t take no for answer, and it’s easier to turn up on the appointment day and fall in line; AND my Bluetooth hearing aids are NHS because the private audiology (Specsavers) refuse to become involved as my case is apparently ‘complex’ and they not do complex. The NHS audiology take it all in their stride, then prescribe and fit at no cost to me, so a win-win situation👍

I totally agree. Far too many sheep around.

there is only one answer for single pensioners left to do. That is to find a rather large partner to snuggle up to in bed.

Sheep who fall for lies and keep trusting legacy media

I just wish local folks would stop making guarantees where the global is concerned :icon_wink:
