20 years John Middleton has played Ashley. I wonder if he’ll be resurrected elsewhere like Joanie ?
I’m just hoping there is life after Emmy for him, it must be hard to get work after playing a character so long.

I am not usually one that gets over emotional about the soaps, but I have to admit that he and Laurel played the scene so well that a small tear did trickle down my face when he died.
Yes, very well done. I didn’t blub as I thought I would, but it was sad, all the same.
How many of us viewers shouted out ‘why are you getting more pillows???’ Why couldn’t she have nipped to the kitchen, for some water, if the writers wanted her out of the room at the exact time he died??
I thought it was sad they had him crying when seeing all the family photos around him.
Emmerdale won’t be the same without him.

It wasn’t his choice, Susie. Harriet had spoken to someone (forget who) saying he’d asked for Highway to Hell, a song that had been playing in a pub they’d visited when a couple.
Ah yes, that’s right he did ask for Highway to Hell and she said she’s not playing that. Still a good song though, I think I will have that at my funeral when the time comes.
I can see Faith as a replacement for Val, Eric needs someone full of fun and who won’t mind that he killed one of his late wives during the confusion of the plane crash (remember?)
