Emerson Lake and Palmer Album Never Heard Before

Just now, I was “smurfing” the t’interweb for all things ELP and came across an album I’ve never heard of before - “In The Hot Seat”. It was released in September 1994 and is the ninth and final studio album. If you’re interested in having a listen, here’s a link:

I have tickets booked to see Karl Palmer next year.

I saw “Nice” at the Festival Hall in the late 60s (I think) and I still have a couple of their LPs - Ars Longa Vita Brevis (sp) and The Five Bridges Suite.

Over time, I must admit I have gone off that sort of music, though now having it thrust back into memory I might have a listen on Spotify (if they have it)

That’s very interesting. Thanks Perc.
I’ve been a fan of ELP for many years, though I much prefer their earlier stuff to this to be honest.
I always thought it was sad and a great loss when Keith Emerson killed himself (I think he shot himself, presumably in a fit of depression unless I’m mistaken). A man of great talent when it came to keyboard playing.

Yes, he did. He was suffering more and more from arthritis in his hands and fingers and believed he couldn’t play to the standard all his fans had come to expect (even though he had a standby keyboardist ready and waiting to help out during his upcoming shows). His Japanese wife returned home to find him lying in a pool of blood with a pistol in or near his hand.

As you say, a very sadly missed man of great talent.
